  2. Hello there,

I’d like to win as MSP are one of my favourite bands, I’ve been listening to their albums for years. :) This Generation Terrorists box set looks amazing, the pass, the print, just wow… :)

    • robbi says:

Simply because this is an awesome great album and I’m curious to learn about the expanded stuff ! My fingers crossed.

    • Christian says:

“And if you need an explanation
      Then everything must go”…

    • Andrew Scully says:

I’d like to win because, for me the Manic Street Preachers are a band that defined the 90′s and Generation Terrorists as an album, still sounds as raw and exciting now as it did back then.

    • mr mro says:

There are about 678 reasons why I should win this box set. I do not have time to name them all, but I think you convinced?

  3. Will Johnston says:

    because ….

  4. Maurice says:

I’d like to win the set because I am a big Manics fan and totally missed buying it in the first place, honestly, I didn’t see this one sell out that fast…

I’m greatly tempted by this set but am sorry to have missed the boat on its availability. Here’s to hoping I’m the lucky winner! I love everything post Holy Bible, but haven’t had the chance to really get to know the early stuff. If the deluxe sets for the Holy Bible and Everything Must Go are anything to go by, this too should be a worthy addition to the stacks!

  8. Julian Stockton says:

    1) I’m in the Slash And Burn video 2) Because I was too stupid and slow to Pre-order the box and I missed out!

  9. Manico! says:

I’d like to win because i’m in italy… So what? Manic Street Preacher don’t play in italy since 1996 (Everything must go) and it’s not right!

  10. Tom Baines says:

wow wud like to win because…hey someone has to n why the hell not

  11. Andy Swallow says:

    Hi SDE
I would really like to win this box set.
Having been there with the Manics from the start, no-one took them seriously, their 1 album manifesto, to one of the greatest most important and inteligent bands this country has produced.
This box symbolises a 20 year career triumph and frightenly 20 years passed so quickly of being a fan.

All the best SDE, keep up the great site

  12. Mario says:

I’d like to win because in Italy the Manic are not well known and it is hard to find their albums in stores. This box repay me for all these years of research

  13. John Myers says:

I would like to win this as I’m a huge Manics fan and stupidly didn’t order this from their website, thinking that it wouldn’t sell out so quickly :( Fingers crossed…

I’d like to win this as it looks absolutely awesome. Simple.

  17. Lee says:

    “Baby, I’m Bored.”

  18. Will says:

It would be a great addition to my Manics collection, which includes the vinyl of GT that I bought on the day of release 20 years ago – which HMV kindly accompanied with a poster and a VHS of the videos MSP had made to date…

  19. Dan Wright says:

I would just like to win because… Who doesn’t want to? It’s winning… Winning is great!

    It’s my turn to win

The Manics are one of the greatest British bands of their era. Generation Terrorists, indeed. This will be a fantastic addition to my record collection if I win.

  23. Jason says:

I’d like to win the GT boxset because there are so few opportunities to indulge in Manic glory living in Canada.

  24. Hedley says:

MSP are very big in our household, here in beautiful Michigan – dont have the box and would love to be considered

  25. Justin says:

I’d like to win this because for some reason this is hard to find in Canada!

Also because I can’t afford it due to The Beatles and Who LP sets coming out. HA!

  26. Marcus Sigismund says:

I’ve seen them live with this record – and it was amazing, what a power.

  27. mark wilson says:

Because I’m for real. How real? Let me go grab something sharp. Be back in a minute…

  30. Brian says:

I’d love to win this because I haaaaave to hear all those old demos.

  31. LeoConsole says:

I’d like this because i love the manics but I’m too skint to buy the boxset. Entered many of these competitions before but didn’t win :(

  32. JamesL says:

It goes to show that yet again, SDE is such an amazing site with contest like these. Okay, yes, shamefully kissing up, but I do it with a Nicky and Richie pout and sneer circa ’92.
I saw them on this tour here in the States in NYC at the Limelight. Few shows you can still see in your head. This is one of ‘em.

  33. Yu Bo says:

I’d like to win this as it looks absolutely

  34. ROBERT PEEL says:

I’d love to win , the Manics are the band i’ve collected most by over the years , sadly missed out on this :(

  35. joe johnston says:

Loving the packaging on this box set – at last this album gets the proper deluxe treatment. Have been hooked ever since seeing the Motorcycle Emptiness video – would look to get my hands on this :)

  36. ATF says:

There are three main reasons why I would like to win this box set:

    1) A long abiding love of the Manic Street Preachers – so much so I rate Lifeblood as a modern classic.
    2) Not having the finances to buy the set whilst it was still on sale – a modern tragedy if ever there was one, damn me for putting Magical Mystery Tour before it! I thought it would still be on sale a week later! An annoyance with myself I may take with me to the grave.

And last, but very much not least:

    3) I utterly adore super deluxe edition boxsets for albums that are special to me. Having collected bootlegs over many years the emergence if Super Deluxed Edition sets were a godsend.

The ability to easily, and in good sound quality, investigate an album at a great depth, to hear how the album came together and appreciated it on a greater level is invaluable.

Also, I can’t help but love all the extra bits you get with them! From replica Elvis tickets to the future decoupage set with the Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie set. To some they may seem unnecessary, but the combination of the physical, visual element witht he audio visual delights take the album to a whole new level – the album represented physically if you will.

Super deluxe sets combine the excitement that you can get from music with the joy of opening Christmas presents. What is there not to love? As such, the MSP Generation Terrorists set rightfully belong next to SMiLE, Ram, The Young Man with the Big Beat, Quadrophenia et al.

    Thank you.

  37. Ryan says:

It’s pretty amazing box set that I totally missed the boat on by not pre-ordering. Would love to add this to my collection.

  38. Francis says:

I am really disappointed to learn that this boxset has sold out already. I planned to buy it when I had enough funds to be able to aford it and now I have no chance of owning it. So, if I was luckily enough to win it, I would be so overjoyed and more, especially as I no longer have the original CD of this album when it was first released as just the standard single disc.

  39. jl says:

They are awesome, therefore it only makes sense I should win.

  40. massimo says:

    I
    ADORE
    MSP

  41. Crimsonjean says:

I want this incredible box set because, in addition to being a fan of the band, I’m an incurable collector and this would be a big shot!

  45. shane mcpherson says:

i nwould love to win GENERATION TERRORISTS!!!!!!!!!!I live in the US,and purchased 3 copies of the cd originally, they kept vanishing, friends, girlfriends, kept stealing them…then lost 1 in friends car when it was stolen…..i tried to order the box set but sold out….begining to think not meant to be with me and this brilliant record……plz choose me, bring myself and the preachers together again……thx

Great package, my turn to win!

  50. Because my joys are counterfeit

  51. Shane says:

This box set needs a good home. I will be the person to love, cherish and nurture this incredible edition. The world needs for Manics fans and Alaska (where I live) would be a perfect location to start a Manics revolution! I NEED this box set!

  52. Alan says:

Cuz they’re a great band and I’ve never won anything in my life.

  53. Barry says:

    Hi

Love the website, love the MSP even more

please let me win so I can save on xmas presents

  54. Paul Gilronan says:

I’ve been a massive fan of the manics since day one. I bought Generation Terrorists on cassette on the day it came out although i think they hit their peak with The Holy Bible. I have been collecting their back catalogue on viny for the last few years but to be honest this latest set is a little out of my price range. I would love to win.

  55. Javier says:

They saw our present, this hard moment we’re living through, 20 years ago. This album has everything a masterpiece needs to: the melodies, the lyrics, the attitude. I was lucky enough to enjoy it at the moment of release. Now I’d like to see the complete picture….

  56. I am a generation terrorist and this album changed the way I listened to music. It gave me faith in rock was not dead and I still love it.

  57. Keith says:

Ive been a fan since the Everything Must Go era . Was hanging on to payday to get the Super Deluxe Edition….as shipping to Canada is usually expensive…..ahh too late !
Hopefully they will make more as this is already selling from crazy prices on some auction sites.
Generation Terrorist is a very strong debut album , with great melodies and razor blade spitting lyrics. Its one of my favourite albums along with EMG

  58. Curt says:

Just give me that nipple! I want it!!

  59. Maurizio says:

Because I have no record of MSP…

  60. Andrew says:

I would love to win this box set as I had this on my xmas list. I had no idea this was limited to 3,000 and now it won’t be say under my tree on xmas day :(

  61. Roberto R. says:

I’ll be amaze to win this box, it will be a great piece in my collection, well Paul It seems I’ve found something I miss…

  62. John Able says:

Very lazily missed the boat on this one – NEVER saw the initial demand ! Would love to see Gold Against The Soul get the same treatment and then sit back and watch the lazy journos say what a great album it was even though at the time they all slated it………fools.

  63. Andrew Leach says:

If I win I promise to be a good boy!

  64. Gazelle says:

    Culture, alienation, boredom and despair.

  70. Chris Lancaster says:

I was too late to order a copy of the box set!

  71. clive brace says:

im in it to win it………….

  72. Pim says:

Because I already failed in buying the Editors boxset last years in the presale, and now again on this box. I didn’t think it would sell out that quickly! :(

  73. Brad says:

Because it’s the album thats stayed in the back of my mind ever since I first heard it.

  74. Rami says:

I pre-ordered it the second it was an option to do so, but I was informed upon the shipping date that my credit card was not funded and to place the order once again.
I checked with my bank, they solved the problem in days and when I went pre-order it was already sold out.

I sure hope I win! Never won anything anywhere before.
Just in case, email is: ramiroortega1991@hotmail.com.

  75. Jose says:

I’d like to win because… really? Do I need to explain that I need this to complete my Manic-collection?

My postman would love to haul this box to my house!

  80. Barry Grayshon says:

Love to win this because I need it…

  81. Dave Maxwell-McNulty says:

Amazing Band, Amazing Box Set!! It would grace any serious fan&collector’s collection! Fingers crossed, here’s hoping!

  82. Jules says:

I really want one of these boxes and I was shocked to find out they’d sold out already. I read this site every day. You’re all lovely people. And so are your mothers and fathers. Oh, and please.

  83. Gino says:

    Would love to hear this!

  84. Kim says:

I’m a huge Manics fan from Australia and collect just about everything! I was going to buy the box set this week but just found out it’s sold out after only 5 days! I don’t have a computer at home at the moment as I just moved, was off work sick for a few days so couldn’t get on the net until I went to my boyfriend’s place today. Really hoping to win this set and add it to my awesome Manics collection!

  85. Des says:

I’d love to win this prize because of the great content.
The original album is one of my all time faves so I’m looking forward to receiving it!
    Thanks.

  86. Piotr says:

I actually ordered this set, only to cancel it a short time later as funds were a bit short. I will probably regret it, as they will become a nice collectible. Hard to imagine they would have 3000 hard core fans who would purchase this box though.

  87. David says:

Fantastic album. Fantastic prize. Fantastic blog. ‘Nuff said.

  88. sisterray says:

I need the deluxe Edition cause I have to preach for the maniacs on the streets ;-)

  89. I’d like to win because I’m a new fan and only recently bought the special edition of the holy bible and loved it!

  90. William says:

This album brings back great memories as I listened to it with friends while away from home for the first summer.
Some albums are timeless, but this feels very much of its time, in a great way, and captures feelings and moods of that time perfectly.

  91. Dan Newton says:

Awesome! Fingers crossed! Love this album.

  92. thorsten says:

17 th november is my birthday… So please…

  93. g man says:

why would i like to win? well such a beautiful set deserves to be cared for as well as played, and i can think of no better place than right here with me :-)

  94. Rob C says:

Love your blog and the newsletter!

I would love the opportunity to win this because rather than spend money on myself for the holidays (of which the MSP Collectors Box was at the top of my want list) I chose to buy gifts for my family & kids first before spending on myself. Unfortunately the box set was announced as sold out., so I missed out on treating myself to this holiday gift from one of my all-time favourite bands.

Despite being disappointed it sold out so quickly, I’m very happy I got my family’s gifts taken care of – after all the holidays are about family and giving and I would do it again knowing I’d miss out on the collectors box.

Many thanks for listening and thanks for giving us this opportunity!

    Cheers,

    Rob

  95. richard says:

This is one of the greatest rock albums of its generation. I need a 4th copy of it.

  96. Stevie Dal says:

One of my favourite bands, they made some good albums but their singles are out of this world, classic after classic !

  97. gary clarke says:

I saw them last christmas when they did ALL those. The oldies sounded great, but the newer stuff really had a bit more life too it. I do regret not seeing them on more recent tours to hear more of Lifeblood and Postcards live. I went out and bought Lifeblood the very next day and I wasn’t disappointed.
    Great Video BTW

  98. jimmy holcomb says:

When this album came out in the US, I was working at a CD store and got to go to a ‘meet-and-greet’ at a recording studio for the band. I hadn’t heard the album yet, and was going for the free food more than anything. Thought the line was too long to meet them, so I ate and left.
(And took home one of the custom Generation Terrorists paper napkins to set drinks on that Columbia had printed up.)

Took the album home, loved it, and have bought every album they’ve made ever since (many times having to special-order them over the years when they weren’t released in the US). In short, they’ve become one of my favorite bands of all time. That cocktail napkin is framed and on my wall. And there have been many, many times I wish desperately that I could go back in time and kick my own ass into waiting in line that night at the ‘meet-and-greet’.

Winning this would help counteract the self-loathing I have for my lack of foresight that night. :)

  99. José David says:

because I’ve never heard this record XD

  100. B Williams says:

Haven’t listened to this album in years. What a nice way to approach the album with fresh ears!

  101. Michel Drolet says:

I could do with that box set, excellent band, excellent album!!!

  102. Charlie says:

A great debut album, which takes me back to seeing them at a free gig in Nottingham Poly . I had to stand on a pool table to see anything. The box set would be an excellent late souvenir of that evening!

  103. raffaele says:

2012 could end right now as the Generation Terrorists box set is THE reissue of the year.

  104. sonia says:

I want win that box have i like MSP but i dont have their any album.

  105. Matteo says:

Because people in the States love the Manics, too

  106. Kimberly McElroy says:

I would like to win because Manic Street Preachers has been an inspiration for me since high school.

  107. Michael howe says:

I would like to win because thanks to superdeluxedition the manic street preachers music will be listened to in wales where we both come from..

  108. Valerie Moss says:

I’d like to win this because I have lost all my manics albums as my hard drives on my mainframe are corrupted. Please please let me replace my lost music! Diolch yn fawr

  109. Eric says:

I love that album! I think I should win for that reason, too! :)

  110. Alfonso Saez says:

I have to win because I met who today is my wife in a Manic Street Preachers show. James was singing this classic called Motorcycle Emptiness, I saw this beautiful girl and walked to her. The rest is history and this beautiful box now sadly sold out will close a circle when I give her…

  111. Tim Larkham says:

I need this to replace my picture disc of the original CD, which still has it’s sticker on it! Also, I was too poor to buy their singles back then and none of the rare b-sides made it onto the 2 disc version. You love us!

  112. HarmonyRocket says:

My first copy, on CD, cost £18. This was extortion, even by 1999 standards.

    The world owes me one.

  113. Sylvain Ringuette says:

This album is great, I’d like that collector’s box!!!

  114. Jeff Partain says:

This was the album that did it for me – introduced me to the Manics. They are without a doubt my favorite band. While everyone was fawning over grunge, I was blasting ‘Motorcycle Emptiness.’ I’m one of the few American fans who have been with them from the eyeliner, t-shirt-graffiti early days. (Also I was going to buy this but it sold out before I could do so…)

  115. Anton says:

Obviously, I should be the chosen one to be given this.

    Why exactly, why?

For I have for too long been having to provide MSP and co. with hundreds and thousands of pounds/euros/dollars etc. for little plastic discs. I even started following SDE roughly a week after they started in a vain attempt to actually “win” something. So if, just for once, could I receive something (and something else) for absolutely no monetary exchange whatsoever in true socialist manner?

P.S. Did I mention I started following you roughly a week after you started? I must’ve not, have I?

  116. because this box simultaneously supports and goes against everything they ever claimed to stand for. Because I’ve only ever had it on a 2nd hand cassette & because You Love Us & (even more so) Motorcycle Emptiness are still wonderful & there’s still part of me that’s forever an angsty 14 year old feeling La Tristesse Durera (yeah I know that’s not on this album ‘-)

  117. Paul Wilson says:

As an album I still rate it as one of my all time favorites. I got the normal CD version when it first came out – it was the first CD I ever bought – I’ve lost it. :(

  118. Paul Kent says:

I want to win it because I’m condemned to rock ‘n’ roll… and also because I couldn’t afford to buy it!

  119. Susan Seaman says:

absolutely adore the manics, no other reason needed x

  120. Laura Harris says:

Can’t believe you have to ask this question! Who would NOT want to win?!?!

  121. gerard says:

the album is great is the only real reason needed. I must have bought three copies of this over the years.

  122. Jim Milligan says:

I would really like to win this box set, it is a pity that it sold out, was a big fan

  123. David Martin says:

This album is the sound of my youth. Times when everything was possible… even walking down my local high street in a provincial northern town wearing eyeliner and a fur coat. I can’t get away with that anymore! Ritchie was a total inspiration.

  124. Henri Vilos says:

I would like to win this album because even though I have to listened to some of Manic Street Preachers’ songs and albums, I haven’t had a chance to listen to this album yet.

  125. Matthias says:

Simply because MSP are the best band from Wales ever!

  126. Neil Molyneux says:

Grew up listening to the Manics so this would be a dream prize

  127. Matt Paradise says:

I should win this box set because “I am nothing and should (win) everything!”

  128. shane weir says:

I’d like to win the set because I am a big Manics fan

  129. Daniel McLaughlin says:

‘Generation Terrorists’ was the album that completely changed my life when I borrowed it off my best mate 12 years ago when I was 14. I’ve been hoping for a reissue like this for so long. I’m obsessed with the Manics and all their b-sides, demos etc. and I’d love to own this. It’s a beautiful gift from the greatest band of all time.

  130. Avner Shemi says:

I love MSP and missed out on getting the boxed set, silly me. I would love to get a copy. Thank you.

  131. Jacek Ratajczyk says:

I’d like to win the set as I still rememeber the day 20 years ago when I first heard Motorcycle Emptiness and thought what an absolutely amazing song it was.

  132. Chris says:

I’d like to win because this item would sit perfectly well next to the Blur Box Set i bought a while ago…

  133. Nicholas says:

I would love to win this box set since I was unfortunate to not be able to buy this set before it sold out and I love this album.

  134. Bill says:

I would love to win the boxset as the bands is the best thing to come out of wales..

  135. Will M says:

An album that holds special memories for my generation, hopefully not the terrorists, but a testament to a time in the UK where change was coming but turmoil was in action

  136. Solange says:

    I love their sound

  137. Gary says:

Why should I win a copy? That’s a toughie, I wanted to buy this but it went out of print before I had a chance (which I wasn’t expecting). I think it’s their best and most ambitious album and I really wish they’d followed through with their promise to split after selling a million copies. But then we wouldn’t have had The Holy Bible, so what do I know.

I can promise you that if I do win this, then the money that I would have spent on tracking down a copy on E-bay will be spent on other records instead. ; ]

  138. Philip Kret says:

Yeah! Count me in on this chance to win. I saw the manics first tour/show in the USA and stood 5 feet away from Richie. It was at a club called TT The Bear’s in Cambridge MA. I’ll never forget it. You could see the tension in Bradfield’s face from having to play to a somewhat unresponsive audience of Yanks in a tiny venue (capacity 270! and packed) when they were playing Wembley in England! James banged his head on the overhang of the ceiling in frustration of not getting the response he wanted. It was an amazing show. April 28, 1992 – a night I’ll never forget.

  139. Jamie says:

I would like to win this for all sorts of reasons, but mainly because my mother said she’d get it for me for christmas, but forgot… I’ve bought the 2xCD and DVD edition BUT IT’s NOT THE SAME and IT’s NOT FAIR and I’ve wanted this from the moment I became aware of it – and I’ve wanted the songs on it for even longer: I’ve been a Manics Fan since ’93… oh my, I’m sounding like I’m begging now… but I am.

  140. Rick says:

I want to win because this is an amazing version of an amazing album.

  141. JasonB says:

Would love to win this! Thanks for having one of the best sites on the web! I check it everyday!

  142. Pier says:

I always listened “Motorcycle emptiness” when I was guard during my military period and that was (and still it is) one of my best memories…

  143. Andy Dommett says:

Just simply the greatest band ever. Would love to win!

  144. Hannah says:

Hi, I would love to win this because MSP are my favorite band in the world! I did not have the funds to buy this when it was available and I would appreciate it a lot, and it is truly one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard, it means a lot to me. I would love for a chance to win this!

  145. Piman says:

The manics! Simply, they’re one of the greatest band to emerge from the 90′s.

  146. I’d like to win because I have yet to “get” this album, or the band itself, for that matter. Manic Street Preachers’ supposed “genius” is probably just beyond my grasp, and who knows? This might just help.

  147. JP Lucas says:

I really want this boxset as I missed out on ordering one from their website as it’s sold out

  148. Alasdair Dinnewell says:

This box set made me think that Santa isn’t real. I put this top of my Christmas list, told my mum it was very limited and she called me to say that when she (rather than Santa) went to buy it they were sold out. If I won this competition though then it could have only been down to the big man himself.

  149. C.Chisholm says:

I need to win because Rock ‘n’ roll is our epiphany!
Culture, alienation, boredom and despair is driving me mad & I need MSP in my life!

  150. Adrian says:

Gimme, gimme, gimme (to quote the mighty Abba).

  151. S. Potter says:

I need this box for a number of reasons. First and most importantly, I am a latter-years Manics fan and have never owned Generation Terrorists so this would be a fitting introduction towards getting me out there to buy the rest of the early Manics catalogue. The other reason is that I have this really strong addiction to box sets and this gem would display so nice next to the rest of my collection!

  152. hannah rachel welsh says:

I LOVE ART AND MUSIC SO WHEN THEY COMBINE WITH MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE BAND I CAN DO NOTHING BUT PRAY I WIN!

  153. Giulia says:

    I NEED IT.

  154. Rob Payne says:

This is one of the best deluxe box sets I’ve seen released – a real treat for fans of the band. That’s what makes this website so vital for real music lovers

  155. Mark Sadler says:

I’ve come to realise that this handsome and iconic box set is identical in weight to a small golden idol that I plan to liberate from an ancient South American temple. By using the box as a counterweight I should be able to retrieve the idol without setting off any of the ancient traps that were set in place to deter tomb robbers.

A waiting seaplane will transport me and my prize back to the British museum. The angry tribe from whom I have stolen the idol will at least have some good music to listen to.

  156. Chris says:

Because I’m loving this album to death…….

  157. Fred Holmes says:

I once got caught short watching the Manics at Chester Sports Centre. I did the honourable thing and re filled my plastic pint glass, giving it to my mate to hold, whilst I tied my shoe. “Your beer’s a bit warm”, says he taking a hearty swig. This is without doubt the best debut album ever, and has the best closing song of a debut ever. Condemned to Rock and Roll, indeed !

  158. Amihay Borensteon says:

I’m just shocked it sold out so quickly! Wanted to buy it myself but haven’t got a chance! So disappointed. Please let me have one!

  159. JP Lucas says:

I want it definetly the best MSP album

  160. charles says:

I’d like to win because early MSP was the best.

  161. claudio says:

    very nice reissue

  162. John Naylor says:

I have been a Manics fan since I first heard Motorcycle Emptiness. Hard to believe that was twenty years ago. They were the music of my teenage years and still my favourite band. I would treasure this boxset and hope I win.

  163. mc says:

because I belong to this record.

  164. Eric Courroy says:

I’m a french fan since 1991, had the luck to see them live in Belfort (France ) on july 1992, had the chance to shake Richey’s hand that day and talk with him (and others’s too :) )…. This would be a wonderful gift. Thanks for reading this and sorry if i made some mistakes.

  165. Craig Williams says:

    I never win anything… :o(

  166. jo says:

because i love them too much

  167. Paul Reed says:

I ‘d like to win because I can’t afford the lovely box sets on your site that I’d love to own.

  168. Emma says:

I’ve been a dedicated fan of the Manics, my favourite band, since I heard ‘A Design for Life’ and, subsequently, the album ‘Everything Must Go’ at the tender age of six.
My copy of ‘Generation Terrorists’ is worn from overuse so this would be a much appreciated gift, as I would never have the money to buy it myself.
Though, regardless, I’m sure there are people here who much be as deserving and appreciative of this boxset as I would be as the Manics’ fanbase is ridiculously dedicated.

  169. Javier J. Valencia says:

Because it’s my favourite band and I NEED IT!!

  170. Rodrigo LC says:

Just because I’m their hugest fan. And I’m depressed because it’s sold out D:

  171. Riley M says:

I’ve only just started to listen to Manics, but already I feel like I’ve been listening to them for years! Phenomenal band! I would love to have a copy of this.

  172. Trev farrand says:

Quite simply, an undying need for Manics music. The trials of life are tough, I’m gonna lose it anyway, the losing card has some delay, so I’ll fill the time in between to bless my ears with the music that’s got me through to now!

  173. Braden says:

I would love to win this Generation Terrorists boxset because I am a massive fan of the band and they really inspire me and I have seen them live loads of times and they always put up a good show. They are such a unique band, and no other band sounds quite like them. I love Every album they have made, especially Generation Terrorists. I think Generation Terrorists should be listened to by everybody so everyone single person in the world can see how excellent the album really is. Being a Manics collector myself I was sad to see the boxset was no longer available so to win this box set would be fantastic.

  174. Russell Todd says:

The album’s caustic energy remains as relevant and as much a call-to-arms as it did on its release. A sober and cutting reminder of global economic and class injustice.

  175. Jessica Bechmann says:

PLEEEEEAAAASE let me win the Generation Terrorists box set!!!!!!! :)
I’m from Germany and the Manics are my favourite band since many years, they mean a lot to me and really changed my life in many ways!!!
I wanted to buy the boxset but it was too expensive as I’m a poor student… so I would be the happiest person in the world if I would win it!
    …and I’d tell Santa I don’t wanna receive any other gifts ;)

  176. Allison Millward says:

GT is my favourite Manics album, it has got me through many things in my life over the years! The box set would be a great addition to my little collection of Manics memorabilia……I’m really proud of it :-) fingers X I’m a lucky girlie!

  177. Ilka says:

I really love the Manics from the beginningso many years ago! I would be absolute Happy to have this Box here in Germany:-).

    Because I simply love MSP

  179. CymruBoyo says:

Please pick me! My wife and I are HUGE fans but couldn’t afford the box set and it’s killing us!

  180. Aimee says:

My favorite album of all time… I’d also like for JDB to bring it to me personally. I was a total idiot when I met him, I’d like to be able to coherently tell him what their music has meant to me

  181. Jeff says:

Because I missed out on ordering and because, as the Manics quoted, “Hell is other people”…. winning this box instead of me.

  182. The Manic Street Preachers are my life.
    Other words are useless!

  183. Yvonne van Amerongen says:

I would love to win the Manics Box for my boyfriend. He has been looking forward to this release so much and has been saving for it, only… he was too late before it sold out, like so many with him.

  184. Urs says:

Because I missed out on ordering it! I’ve got this album only as a vinyl picture disc, so this would be the perfect opportunity to finally get it on CD! :-)

  185. Alex says:

    Great reissue of a masterpiece!

  186. Erica says:

I wanna win this for the best boyfriend a girl could wish for – Benny Staxx!! He’s my ‘Little Baby Nothing’ xxx

  187. Yu Yi says:

I’d like to win because i just have 2 ablums by Manic Street Preachers, and it’s NOT easy to get other MSP’s albums in my contory.
And this is a big chance to get a great boxset by this amazing band.

  188. Paul says:

As a subscriber to the Manics mailing list I meant to get this when first notified but didn’t have the cash. Now that I have it’s sold out! I need it! x

  189. Steve says:

I really meant to buy this and never thought it would sell out so quickly. This is now my last chance to own one. Keeping everything crossed :-)

  190. Alun Hamnett says:

I’d like to win this set because it’s my girlfriend’s favourite album, and I’d like to give her the best Christmas present ever.

  191. Carina says:

I would like to win because I am a huge fan of the manics. My boyfriend was going to buy me one from Christmas and assured me he had ordered it. Once it had sold out he confessed he had forgotten to order it :(:( x

  192. Luis says:

Not one, but two reasons: Love your site and love this box set! :-)

Thanks for giving away this box and congrats for the site.

  193. marcel says:

    because i’m a huge fan

  194. Mike Fisher says:

I’d like to win it because it is a nice item and I’m intrigued! Also like it that there’s no duplicated content on the vinyl (which I can play) too.

  195. Owen Keenan says:

I’d like to win this set because I am an obsessive anal gimboid completist. And I say that with pride!

  196. Mikel says:

I’d like to win this set because it`s one friend`s favourite album,he is seriously ill and I`d like to give her the present. Thanks for the website,is fantastic.

  197. Billy Berry says:

I’d do anything to win this, my son asked for this to be the one and only Christmas present to get him and next thing I know it’s sold out online and haven’t quite told him yet I haven’t got it! So doing absolutely everything that I can do online now to get this as I know what it means to him!

  198. Jorge says:

Great album, great presentation, and sold out. Need I say more?

  199. John Able says:

Great album. Sleeping on the floor of freezing house share student bedroom, listening to this night after night. would love to rekindle those memories ( but now able to afford a bed and mattress ! ).

  200. Hannah ONeill says:

Love Manic Street Preachers! Would love this

  201. Denise Riggin says:

I’d love to win this because I was so sad that I didn’t order it in time. I live in the USA, so I miss out on almost everything Manics-related. Getting the GT box set would make my year!

  202. Simon Jones says:

I’d like to win as this is possibly the greatest debut album of all time.

  203. alan goodenough says:

I think I should win the boxset simply because it would just be really cool if I did.

  204. steve watson says:

Send it to me I deserve it more than anybody else on here ..the year I have had in which I lost my brother to a brain haemorrage and then was made redundant from my job and I haven’t been lucky enough to find other work..so Christmas this year is going to be very lonely…to win this boxed set of one of my favourite albums would truly make my Christmas …thank you….

  205. Patrick Clarke says:

I’d like to win as I’m both a devoted, borderline obsessive, manics fan who tries to own as much of their stuff as humanly possible, and (thanks to the current government) a financially crippled student who didn’t have the chance to get the money together to buy the set before it sold out despite my best efforts.

  206. steven greenaway says:

Because Generation Terrorists is the only album i’ve ever bought on the day of release. I was 17, and it’s been downhill ever since.

  207. Adrian Bok says:

because the past 20 years would be emptiness, if manic street preachers weren’t here all these while for us

  208. Marion S says:

    Because….
    we are not your sinners
    our voices are for real
we realised and won’t be mourned
we gonna burn your deathmask uniforms!

  209. E. says:

Manics are the reason why I am studying and where I am studying, they have not just been a band to listen to when the mood is right but also to inspire to keep on going and try to catch those dreams I have. Also being a poor student didn’t exactly help me get this box for myself. ;)

  210. Raffaela says:

Here in Italy it’s difficult to see a their concert :-) I deserve a prize for the patience :-) the nfinite patience :-)

  211. Carlos Mugica says:

    Really?

  212. lauraaura says:

Ah, the spectacular, inspirational hubris of the Manics back in 1992 – writing their own legend before they lived it, always abiding by the mantra “more is more”. This album is the springboard, the starting place for the most important British band of the last 40 years. Kicking against the received wisdom that indie bands peddled that it was better to be ignored (thereby remaining ‘cult’), Nicky and Richey were unignorable. A beautiful mess of eyeliner and spraypaint. A design for my life. I’d love to win the gorgeous new edition. Please…

  213. Katie C says:

Well there will be people more deserving of course but honestly doubt many of them cried as many tears when they saw the price and realized nope I can’t afford that. Thank you for the opportunity ~ x

  214. Ozum Ozgulgen says:

One of the best debuts in rock ‘n’ roll history! So great to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary with this beautiful edition!

  215. Priscila says:

I think I should win this because the Manics are my favourite band for years now…actually they’re more than a band to me, they saved me, they made me who I am today. Thanks to them I know who I am! Their music helped me when no one was around to help me. They gave me strenght to carry on and never give up.
I even plan on getting the rose tattoo done as soon as I have enough money.
This box is sooo expensive to me, I mean I live in a country right now that is financially a mess, when I saw they did this beautiful box, from my favourite Manics album, I cried because I knew I would never be able to afford it. I don’t even have a credit card!

So pleaaaase, give this box to me, I would cherish it like a baby, it would make me the happiest girl alive! Also my birthday is close hahah.

  216. Axel says:

I’d really like to win because I love so much the Manics, I don’t have money to pay for this excellent box set, and because a day is not a day if I don’t listen to MSP. I really love them and I am praying everyday for seeing them in a show.
You would make a 16-years old young very happy if I win

  217. Joey says:

All is Vanity—That’s the word which Richey always said.
And I do believe that, we just a vain person. We all want to have or win some big thing in our life in order to make a footmark.
This collector’s box is that big thing I wanna to grab it.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity.

  218. Helena says:

I love the manics, have pretty much every record except this one and my home feels very empty without it.

  219. Tracy says:

I have all the regular MSP albums but this one would be the cream, a just for looking, a treasure.. and if a voice could be married Id marry james voice any day.. fantastic singer, brilliant guitar player and mr wire is a superb lyric writer

  220. Wan says:

Generation Terrorists change my life. If i dont win this, i’m still lookin till the end of the world.

  221. Mike says:

I started listening to the Manics when I was going through a really tough time in my life. Their music inspired me creatively and helped with my music qualifications. I managed to see them for the first time last December at o2, and it was a fantastic night

  222. Dean Scott says:

I’d love to win this. Been listening to the manics since i was about 9 years old (im 24 now), them being the band that introduced me to music. I first saw em when I was a tiny 12 year old at the Manic Millenium gig. Winning this would mean a lot to me, being such a life-long super fan.

  223. jonas rydeberg says:

i want to win the box cause i want to heat the “new” songs i haven´t heard yet. I got all the other tracks MSP ever recorded… I also think it a very cool box!

  224. mike says:

We recently lost my brother, who was like me, a lifelong Manics fan & depression sufferer. I’ve been unable to work since & couldnt afford to buy the reissue.

  225. Lucy says:

Because I want it. Glory days

  226. Julian Storm says:

Because I’d love to listen to those early demos and want to own the box. But please, Sony, press more copies.

  227. Kat Mallow says:

I’d love to win this Manics boxset as this particular album to me played such a significant part in my life, and having had a particularly hard year it would be wonderful to own a collector’s edition of something that reminds me of the good times so much, and that has provided me with so much strength. Especially as I had to let go of the dream of owning this due to having a new son who deserves money spent on him so much more than I do.

  228. Tim Schloe says:

I didn’t end up getting one because I got a present for my oldest daughter for her birthday.

  229. Matt K says:

I should win this because rock and roll is my epiphany.

  230. Hannah Bevan says:

Hello there fellow MANICals! :3 I would love to win this box set because I am an extreme fan of the Manic Street Preachers. I have not heard a song by them that I dislike and have all of their albums! Generation Terrorists has got to be my favorite album by them by far, my other favorites being the Holy Bible and Journal for Plague Lovers! Richey’s and Nicky’s lyric writing is just perfection on this album and Sean and JDB’s musicianship just shines… What can I say? You just can’t get any better! Not a day goes by without me listening to their music; I admit it, it’s an addiction! The Manics have helped me through some really dark times and have also introduced me to some quality literature at the same time. Through their music I have been introduced to the works of greats such as William Blake among others. I wish I had been old enough to see the Manics live in their heyday but I guess I was born in the wrong generation, there is hardly anything musically that I can relate to from the vacuous 2000′s. I wish I had been a teenager through the 90′s; the music was so much better and the gigs were cheap! Long story short; winning this would make my life! :3

  231. jude belga-beach says:

I would like to win this as I have been following the manics for more than half my life!!

  232. Carol says:

I’d love to win because I just couldn’t get the money together to buy this before it sold out – ah the irony; the only things of value I have are my rare MSP records (and there’s NO WAY I’m ever selling any of them!). The Collector’s Box would be an amazing addition to my little collection :)

  233. john blandford says:

Would love boxset, bought original album and everyone since, would love to own this fantastic boxset and hear it re-mastered and all the extra tracks, and have this on my bookshelf

  234. Valentina says:

I’m still waiting for a MSP gig in Italy, in 2011 I come to London only for manic concert… And this time I`ve lost the the collector`s box… What a pity!!! Please, send me the last one!!! ;-)

  235. Stephen says:

I missed Generation Terrorists first time around as I lived in Belgium and they didn’t hit the charts there. Then after I found the Holy Bible, I discovered Generation Terrorists. What a gem of an album. This is the album that kick started my Manics obsession. Oh, and the b-sides from this era. Phenomenal. This album still sends shivers.
Would love this collection for Disc 3. The genesis of the Manics.

  236. Denis says:

i’d like to win because the Manics saved my fucking life.

and no one loves you like i do.

    come in Italy.

    c’mon.

  237. Cas Flannery says:

It wasn’t til 1998 that I got into the Manics, my life was upside down with adolescence and a family breakup, their timing couldn’t have been better. The dolls-house glamour and cut-and-paste sloganeering had me hooked right away and I spent night after night digesting every jagged hook and acerbic lyric until I was a disciple of the band.

Generation Terrorists is not only a great pop-rock album and manifesto, it wipes the floor with the competition as proof of what can be acheived with the power of sheer self-belief (and a good sense of humour.) That’s why 20 years on, it’s still an incredible album and that is why I’d love to win this competition!

    Stay beautiful x

  238. Nicholas Pentney says:

If I don’t win then I’ll “throw some acid in you face [and] pollute your mineral water with a strychnine taste” :P

  239. leigh says:

Why do I wanna win this? Well when the Manics came to my hometown (Melbourne), I got a little bit excited about their visit and so I begged to be invited onto a local radio station to play 2 hours of their songs and give a lot of history on the band in between just to push their profile and drum up some buzz for the tour. Now I am NOT a radio DJ at all, but through persistence, I was successful and for two hours, the Manics were blasting out of radios all over Melbourne, and I thought, what better way to show devotion to a band? I guess the reason I think I should win the box set is because I take my devotion to the band pretty seriously. Hell I even dreamed that i was at a Manics concert 3 months before the band even announced their tour of Australia. Ha! So please, let me have this little prize hey?

    xx

  240. As an American fan I’ve been deprived of any opportunity to see the band live, this would be a wonderful consolation prize. I’ve been a tremendous fan of the band since the first promo cassette of generation terrorists showed up in the record store I managed in 1992.

  241. Colin says:

It was sold out, which means I am bummed out. A signed copy of the 3 disc edition just don’t cut that mustard.

  242. Terri says:

For my best friend as a christmas gift. I can’t afford to buy this for her, but if I won it, it would make the both of us happy! We’ve both been MSP fans since I introduced them to her years ago, but she doesn’t have the money to buy any of their CD’s or merch. So this would be really really cool to win!

  243. shell says:

Its an awesome prize from an awesome group.

  244. Graeme says:

It is a thing of beauty.I must have it.

  245. Maarja A says:

I would love to win this box set because Manic Street Preachers really are my favourite band. I’ve been a huge fan of them for the past five years now and will continue to be one! They’re incredible.

  246. Braden says:

I love the manics. Generation Terrorists has to be one of the best albums of all time. Every single song is different and excellent. I would love to win this.

  247. Olga Luiken says:

Because my five year old son really loves to listen the music of the Manics! (of course after hearing it from us, his parents). He singing and drumming with two pencils in his hands on the music. And he loves to see the video clips, especially the one where Nicky is wearing a pink dress! So the whole family (his 3 year old sister also loves to rock and dance one the Manics) will be so delighted to win this!

  248. Brittany says:

I would love to win this because I am a huge fan with all the merchandise and this is the only thing I am missing that I would love to own. I have also travelled from England to Belgium just to see them perform and also, because I just really like them xx

  249. Thomas Williams says:

I got made unemployed just as it came on sale- by the time I’d decided I could afford it anyway it had sold out….

  250. Mark Thomas says:

Been a big manics fan ever since the early days seeing one of their first gigs at Cardiff University.

  251. Paul Maloney says:

I’d like to win the box set as I missed out on ordering when it came available first. Generation Terrorists is my favourite Manics album and the one I play the most from their earlier albums. I’d love to have all the extras. There’s a hole in my collection without this amazing item.

  252. Darren Parr says:

Need this!! Seen them over 10 times live and missed this!!! Damn……..

  253. Katie Skeoch says:

Have loved them for years!! Would be a great crimbo present for me if I won :)

  254. Lydia says:

Was -4 when Generation Terrorists was released, so unfortunately missed out first time round… hopefully better luck this time!

I love their music and would love this prize. Thank you

I would like to win because I love good music

  257. CLAIR says:

I love Richie and wonder where he is now. You Love Us oh You Love us!

  258. Dave Trippa says:

I’d like to win because I’m a culture slut.

  259. Joonas says:

I think this album is one of the most ambitious debute LPs any band has ever made! And the whole box looks so cool!

  260. David says:

Followed these guys from the word go so it would be great to have this set

  261. simon adlington says:

This just maybe the greatest debut album ever. Would be great to hear all of the discs on this set to hear how it was shaped.

  262. Michael Connor says:

Under Neon Loneliness, Motorcycle Emptiness…need I say more! The best song ever from the best band ever and I need this box set :)

I need to win this gift from the manics, it will prevent me getting a dose of the panics.

  281. Edd says:

I would LOVE to win this because I’d been looking forward for months to buy the box set. Having the bills out the way, I’d realised I could buy it on the day of release. I returned home to order it and was CRUSHED to find it had sold out.

I remember buying the cd on my fourteenth birthday at Cob Records (a legendary Welsh record shop which sadly closed earlier this year); taking it home and, for the first time discovering Motorcycle Emptiness, You Love Us, Little Baby Nothing etc. at high volume (11, naturally).

At first glance, fun rock n roll. Then i discovered the lyrics, what the band’s message and manifesto was. Then it clicked. I connected with it, especially having being brought up in Wales to very similar surroundings as Blackwood.

Fast forward seven years later. It’s a sunny Sunday afternoon at Valley Police Station on Anglesey. Quiet. Dead. Being the only one in (the old house now converted into a small local station), I played Generation Terrorists out the office window. Repeat. Stay Beautiful. Ten minutes in, there’s a knock at the door.

Me: Hi there, how can i help you?
Male aged around 16: Is that music coming from the office? I could hear it walking over the footbridge passed the window.
Me: Yes, its the first album by Manic Street Preachers. Have I caused offense by playing it? I’m sorry if I have.
Male: No, I heard it and thought it sounded really good, I’d heard a few of their songs but didn’t know they did stuff like that.
Me: It’s called Generation Terrorists. Here, take it, give it a listen and drop it back through the door when your finished with it.

Two weeks later, at the end of a brutal shift, there it is lying on the floor, with a post-it note on the front. “I’ve discovered something amazing. I’ve bought The Holy Bible too. Thanks so much”

That to me is what good music is about. It stays with you. You remember the moment you bought/first heard it. Then the important times of your life where you connect with it, just like all those years ago when i first bought it, through good times and bad, right up to when the band played Glasgow last year.
