blur_deal2

Easily one of the best archival packages of recent years, the 21-disc Blur 21 box is today the cheapest it has been over on Amazon Germany.

To recap, the box contains all seven studio albums in double-disc deluxe editions covering a wealth of b-sides, little-heard gems, alternative mixes, live tracks, demos, rare tracks, acoustic versions, Fan Club singles and previously unreleased radio sessions. In addition to this you get four bonus rarities CDs (exclusive to this set), three DVDs and a seven-inch single

  1. M. Bättiger says:

Another “limited edition” – since years. Anyway. Good deal!

  2. Fabry65 says:

    Got it. Thx Paul.

  3. Stu says:

The ‘standard’ 2cd reissues in this series were a lesson in how to do these things. Excellent musical content, beautiful packaging, informative liner notes, free mp3 downloads, and well-priced.

    • Michael Fortin says:

I got the 2-cd reissues instead of the big box. I agree they were very well done. The big ’21’ box was a bit much for me.

  4. tyrone tudor says:

21 discs? £75? You just know where this message is going…

Pink Floyd – Early Years anyone?

  5. Malcolm says:

    Thanks Paul.
Is now saying expected 2-3 weeks as sold out. Not hopeful they will get more given recent experience but worth an order anyway.

    • Paul Sinclair says:

I think they can get more stock, so I wouldn’t let that put you off if you don’t mind waiting, which I presume you don’t since this came out 4 years ago :)

  6. PChris says:

Ordered 2 brittpop boxes in one hour today. Very happy with this one. Thanks Paul!

  7. Klaus says:

This is becoming a really expensive summer, but with great value for money.

    Thanks Paul.

  8. Dennis says:

Nice one! Immediately ordered, hopefully it won’t be cancelled. Somehow amazon.de these days has quite a few box sets with a 2-3 weeks delivery time. Fingers crossed they can get enough stock in :)

  9. Kauwgompie says:

You’re killing me Paul. Just ordered it and im not even a huge Blur fan. And I’m in the USA but the DVD’s are probably PAL so that’s not going to help. Would Amazon Germany be able to send me the NTSC version?
My boxset collection is growing rapidly though. I can start my own record store soon. Keep the deals coming :-)

    • Paul Sinclair says:

All the DVDs are NTSC, so there’s some good news for you!

    • Billy Dojcak says:

Unless your dvd player is from 2003 you should be alright. It’s the region coding that stops most players. And I say this all the time, type your dvd player model and ‘change region code’ into a search engine. There may be a way to circumvent the region protection. And a bluray player will play PAL/NTSC discs, but the region code will stop it unless there is a workaround available.

  10. matthew says:

Hi Paul any signs of an elton john box set on the horizon his has fair old back catalogue …cheets

    • Paul Sinclair says:

Will keep my ears to the ground!

      • Billy Dojcak says:

Elton has done a poor job of keeping his catalogue fresh. (There were 5 more surround discs mixed, but after sacd failed those were shelved. Could be nice to have them on hirez bluray, but not sure if mixdown frequencies are compatible.) He’d the rather keep releasing cds nobody buys. Look how many labels he’s been through lately.

        • Paul Sinclair says:

The Goodbye Yellow Brick Road super deluxe was very unambitious and had that horrible discs with ‘other artists’ doing covers. Ugh.

  11. Michael L says:

Tempting, but I bought all the 2CD editions at the time so not sure that the remaining elements are worth £75 to me.

Great deal though if you don’t have any or many of them!

  12. bob says:

I am not a big enough fan of Blur to buy this box but I have seen it. As Paul said it really is a great example of how to put together a box set. Great content and great shelf friendly packaging.
I wish this was the go to packaging for all non vinyl box sets.

  13. Robert says:

Excellent. This is a great example of where Blur was up on Oasis. I got this box around the time it came out and it remains one of my favorites.

  14. Paolo Meccano says:

Thanks, Paul – got it for £72.64.

  15. Craig says:

Great deal, I picked it up for £100 around the time of release and it’s well worth it. A great package and a lesson to many others on how to do a all-in reissue box.

  16. Johnathan says:

I’m the most casual of Blur fans, but couldn’t pass this up. $91.99 delivered to Canada!

  17. richie says:

I paid £75 for this on ebay (used but in mint condition) just over two years ago and considered it a bargain.

As others have said this is a great box set and if you didn`t own anything by the Blur, as was the case with me, it is a great buy. I had been trying to get the box at a decent price, it exceeded £120 on all selling sites. Don`t miss this if you are interested in Blur at the price on offer today.

I was always intrigued by Blur, a much more talented band than that lot from Manc-chester (whose music I do like) and more brainier also. Blur`s music is almost Prog in its concept, by which I mean…well it`s bloody good. Enjoy. Or not.

  18. FM says:

Wow, thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!! I’ve had my eye on this for years and I finally took the plunge. Less than half the price of what I would have paid for it on Amazon US. You just made my week!

  19. Chris says:

No thanks to me? I’ve posted it to you, Paul ;o)
Anyway! Great work and great deluxe blog! Keep on!
    Chris

    • Paul Sinclair says:

Always grateful for tips. Quite often get multiple people emailing etc. about deals (including this Blur box!), so can’t really thank everyone explicitly, but obviously it’s appreciated.

  20. Stephen Collman says:

Thanks to all for highlighting these promos but my bank account is suffering! I think we are currently experiencing a record company reissue super deluxe Renaissance because the record companies know subsequent generations are in the main content to buy cheap lower quality MP3 digital downloads, use online services or mercilessly pirate. I buy across multiple formats (often the same releases e.g. Beatles mono set vinyl and CD) with DJ tracks being predominantly WAVs whilst I have a strong sentimental fondness for vinyl (DJ tracks and the majority of my music purchased pre 2005, Beatles Mono, Queen, Free and Bob Marley for example) yet I also seem to purchase a lot of the super deluxe CD + packages, for example all Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd’s Immersion releases and Underworld. Plus some Japanese Universal SHM Platinum CDs! It’s all getting hideously expensive what with the Universal Store offering tempting discounts. I use Mytek 8×192 ADDA converters so hi res digital makes sonic and logical sense (in spite of the Beatles Apple with its flawed anti piracy player) but for me there is a total lack of any real tactile and emotional connection with music on CD, DVD, Blu Ray and especially digital files.

  21. Billy Dojcak says:

I’d get this for my wife (wink, wink), but she already has the Blur albums she wants. I have a copy of Everyday Robots minty fresh in the shrink…

  22. John says:

You can regularly get it new and sealed cheaper on ebay for those that missed it. Seen it sell for £45-ish a few times recently.

  23. Paul English says:

Great price – it’s an excellent set.

Surely the PAL / NTSC DVD issue is no longer a major thing? A multi-region player can be picked up for buttons (€30 – is this not the same in the US?)

  24. Job says:

I received mine today and I must say I’m amazed at the enormous value for money. Thank you very much for the alert, Paul! I’m so happy I finally own this!
BTW, for those who did dither: the price still hasn’t gone back up yet. No wonder the box now has a “Bestseller Nr. 1″-label! I’m really curious to know why it remains so much more expensive everywhere else.

  25. Ronnie says:

For anyone still looking. Deal is back on today, 14 in stock more on the way.
This really is a bargain considering the contents
