Midnight Oil‘s forthcoming Overflow Tank box set, which is the 12-disc ‘rarities’ companion to the ‘Full Tank’ set, is available for a very competitive price right now on Amazon France.

The 4CD+8DVD package contains over 14-hours of content and is ‘just’ £155 on the French site (€179), which is over £100 cheaper than the current UK price. This cheap price in France is about the same price as from the official Midnight Oil store, but of course, for those in Europe, you don’t have the same worries around VAT, import duty and potential hassle with returns.

Only The Strong tells the story behind Midnight Oil’s classic breakthrough album “10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1”. This new documentary, directed by Robert Hambling, features the wizard-like figure of producer Nick Launay alongside band members Jim Moginie, Rob Hirst and Peter Garrett. The film lifts the lid on how Midnight Oil reinvented themselves with this trailblazing masterpiece.

“Blackfella/Whitefella” (Documentary) DVD

In 1986, Midnight Oil was invited to tour central Australian Aboriginal settlements with the legendary Aboriginal group Warumpi Band. They staged concerts, talked with tribal elders and saw European occupation through the eyes of its original inhabitants. This became known as the Blackfella/Whitefella tour. This tour became the creative catalyst for the writing and recording of Midnight Oil’s “Diesel And Dust” album. Blackfella/Whitefella is the documentation of those experiences featuring the music of Midnight Oil and Warumpi Band along with the videos for “The Dead Heart” and “Beds Are Burning” from “Diesel And Dust”.

“Ellis Park – The Concert” (Live) DVD

Having steadfastly refused to play in South Africa whilst in the grip of apartheid, this concert is a celebration of the inauguration of Nelson Mandela in front of a packed Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg in 1994.

    Silly me for thinking that this would only be an Australian issue, like some of their books and previous DVD’s have been. I snapped this up when it was first announced on their website. ‘Only 200 available’ it initially said, ho hum. I couldn’t have known that it wasn’t going to be limited on the same day that it was announced. So far the Australian dollar price I paid is still within a sniff of the US one where I presently reside. Here’s hoping it doesn’t get reduced even further! I’ll content myself with seeing them this Saturday in Atlanta, unlike many of my fellow ardent fans who were not so lucky.

      I also ordered both from their website with $50 discount for ordering both. It worked out to be £280 but I imagine I will be hit with some import taxes if it’s being shipped from Australia.

      The Amazon deal works out to be the safer bet. Just over £300 for both but at least you can have peace of mind that you won’t be paying any more taxes.

    I will get both sets eventually…with dropping prices I don’t feel as much pressure to feel screwed if I don’t order right away…thanks for the tracklistings…bummer the 12″ versions are not included…but now I know they are not, I am keeping my copy of the US promo “Green Disc” which they are all on…as for the NYC show, it sold out fast and tix online are going a hundred bucks or more…if I miss out, it’s alright. I saw the Oils live once in 1997 in NYC at the tiny Mercury Lounge…and it was quite unforgettable…

    Surprised…they coulda added the 12-inch mixes here…OR they could be included on the Full Tank as bonus tracks on its related album?? Looks like “Gunbarrel Highway” will be on the FT’s “Diesel & Dust” disc cuz it’s not in OT on the B-sides disc…it IS on the “Green Disc” as well, so no worries on my end…
