Bad Company / Live 1977 • Live 1979

Rhino will release a new Bad Company two-disc live set at the end of next month.

The band never did release an official live album during the original era but this new two-CD set, Live 1977 • Live 1979, puts a spotlight the celebrated on-stage performances of original Bad Company line up: Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke and Boz Burrell.

This collection contains more than two and a half hours of overdub-free live performance and is made up of the band’s show at the Summit House in Houston, Texas, which took place on May 23rd, 1977 (in support of the Burning Sky album) and a March 9th, 1979 show in London, which was recorded during the band’s tour for Desolation Angels.

The 2LP vinyl version contains just the 1977 show.  Full track listing is below and Live 1977 • Live 1979 will be released on 29 April 2016.

  1. Paul Wren says:

Any sign of a vinyl version?

    • Charles K. says:

I’m sure they will. Rhino released vinyl versions of Bad Company and Straight Shooter deluxe editions. I didn’t get the vinyl editions myself so I can’t comment on how good they sounded but the 2CD editions sonically solid.

  2. Roel says:

Really looking forward to this one. Shame they didn’t package it with the Live In Albuquerque 1976 set (Angel Air 2006) which was only in print for a few days/weeks before legalities raised their ugly head. That was a cracker of a show. Private sellers are asking up to GBP90 for this!!
Another missed opportunity – would have been a great 4CD box set.

  3. JR Larsson says:

Awesome track list from a classic time in the band’s history!

  4. Tim Tirelli says:

About time! Original Bad Company rules.

  5. peter chrisp says:

Roel would have to agree would have been great with the live Albuquerque, i do remember that instant where it was actually available for a very short time, not quite sure can you have a listen on you tube?

  6. Les London says:

Really looking forward to this release, first saw them live at the Great British Music festival at Olympic 1976, showing my age now, then again at the Wembley show on this CD set so will be good to re live that show again.

  7. J says:

In the US u can get this at Barnes & Noble for same price as Amazon (15.99) as a pre order but B&N are much more dependable. Great buy

  8. michael shaw says:

The 1976 Albuquerque set is terrific. I am surprised someone with a touch more technical nous than I haven’t pitched it to you tube. Most of the material repeats here, but as a live album buyer it’s good to have ’em all. Really looking forward to the later material here!

  9. Paul Wren says:

OK – here is the announcement of a double vinyl LP version via the States on 24th July at $32 plus postage. UK release to follow in due course?
