Black Sabbath / Supersonic Years: The Seventies Singles Box Set

Ten 1970’s seven-inch singles in rare/unreleased sleeves

June sees the release of The Supersonic Years: The Seventies Singles Box Set a new limited edition Black Sabbath seven-inch vinyl box set.

Despite the group’s self-imposed ‘ban’ on releasing singles in the early 1970s (it only lasted a couple of years) what we have here are ten vinyl singles from that era, including five rare single edits: Iron Man, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Am I Going Insane (Radio), Hard Road and Symptom Of The Universe.

The seven-inch vinyl records are house in ten “unique colour picture sleeves” which are rare or exclusive to the box set. Audio is remastered by Andy Pearce and this box – clearly designed as a companion to the Ten Year War set – includes a booklet with new sleeve notes.

The Supersonic Years: The Seventies Singles Box Set will be issued on 8 June by BMG in the UK and Warner Bros. Records in the US.

Guessing the UK import has the Vertigo labels because I just received the US version and all the labels are Warner Brothers. The Vertigo labels are in the image above.

  2. Matt S says:

Should have spent the time, energy and money re-pressing the Ten Year War box.

  3. Mick says:

I have the original “Iron Man” single. Would love to have those other 4 edits, but not willing to spend this much for them. I’d far prefer they do what Deep Purple did with the single disc “A Fire In The Sky” compilation and just put them all on a CD.

  4. GARETH TAYLOR says:

    No Bill Ward…no Black Sabbath….
Ozzy and sharon can stick this…

    • HUH says:

      Bill is on this

    • david says:

think you will find that Bill was on these…….. and there is no BS now, anyway, with or without Bill Ward. Wish folk would grow up a little – nobody made this much fuss when Ozzy left

  5. fan says:

around 6€ per single is good since there is a box and book ; but I preordered the who singles box just to see months later that the price have dropped significantly, so this time I’ll wait

  6. Adam says:

I’m a massive fan and thought the ‘Ten Year War’ box was wonderful, but this doesn’t appeal in the slightest.

  7. Vishal says:

Thanks Paul, for the US based potential buyers, PopMarket has it for $69 plus shipping currently but the Amazon prices will drop …I hope.

  8. Jason says:

    Any information around release numbers?

I can just hear Mike Mansfield,” Cue Lights! Cue Demonic Beasts! Cue Giant Iron Man!”
