Frank Sinatra / London box set

frank1

A new four-disc box set featuring classic live sets by Frank Sinatra performed in London will be released next month.

Universal Muisc Enterprises have worked with Frank Sinatra Enterprises to create the appropriately titled London which focuses on projects from between 1953 and 1984, bringing to light more than 50 previously unreleased tracks.

The first disc sees Ole Blue Eyes‘ 1962 album Sings Great Songs from Great Britain (uniquely recorded in the capital) remastered and combined with audio from a BBC “Light Programme” radio special from the same year with introductions to each song by Sinatra.

Session outtakes from the Great Britain album along with music recorded nearly a decade earlier for a 1953 live session for BBC Radio’s The Show Band Show, feature on disc two with the third and final CD devoted to a 1984 concert from that legendary London venue The Royal Albert Hall.

The DVD content includes a previously unreleased film of a 1962 concert at the Royal Festival Hall as well as a 1970 concert appearance from the same venue with a never-seen-before performance of A Foggy Day.

This set comes with a 60-page booklet by producer Ken Barnes, who attended the 1962 Great Songs From Great Britain recording sessions, original album liner notes, and newly-written track annotations details about Sinatra’s many visits to the U.K. You will also find two art print reproductions of original London concert posters in this set.

The Frank Sinatra London box is released on 9 December.
