Frida / Coloured vinyl album reissues

Anni-Frid Synni Lyngstad – Frida from ABBA to you and me – will see three of her solo albums reissued by Universal Music, with a limited run of coloured versions initially available.

Her second solo album, the Benny Anderson produced Frida Ensam (Frida Alone) was issued in 1975 and will be available as a white vinyl pressing, while 1982’s Something’s Going On (reissued as a deluxe box in 2015) is pressed on violet wax. Finally, 1984’s Shine, which was produced by Steve Lillywhite is reissued on light green vinyl (before, like the others, reverting to black vinyl).

As you’d expect, these are 180g pressings and they all come with download cards. They are released on 28 July 2017. Some Agnetha Fältskog‘s solo albums are getting the same treatment.

OMG the cover art of all 3 albums is so very… err… questionable.

“Questionable” is a big, big understatement!

C’mon, those are very representative of 80’s aesthetics, just narrowly avoiding facepalm stamp of approval. Especially Shine sleeve is LOL and epoch graphics to the core, incl. “attitude”…

Time to change the name of this site. I suggest: Coloured Vinyl Reissues.

*Yawn* Yet another way for Universal to cash in on the fan who simply has to own every release of everything. While I’m sure they’ll look lovely, if I want to listen to them on vinyl I can simply dig out the copies I bought back in the 70s and 80s. Personally I’m no longer interested in any ABBA or related release that doesn’t contain some previously unreleased *music*

It’s a pity that Frida’s ‘Djupa Andetag’ isn’t among the Frida reissues. That great album from 1996 hasn’t ever been released on vinyl. Only on CD and cassette.

Hmm, at least someone is getting the purple vinyl treatment this summer! Not Prince, unfortunately.

I really like the Bjorn and Benny splattered vinyl, will have to procure a copy.

I can’t understand why they chose violet (!) vinyl for the Something’s Going On album. That release was always drenched in pink. At least they could have chosen a color that complements the album cover – the purple just looks odd.
