Sanctuary/Universal will release The Complete Early Years on 19 November, a lavishly packaged limited collectors’ edition that celebrates 35 years of Motörhead.

The contents of the box are housed in a unique (and shelf-unfriendly) Motörhead case. Eight full length albums are reproduced as “Japanese miniatures” – presumably vinyl replica CDs – and a further seven CD singles are three-inch Japanese miniatures.

The set also comes with a seven-inch vinyl single, a Pete Frame family tree chart, a 300-page Motörhead Collectors’ guide and an 84-page concert programme photo book.

    Interesting… go to the pre-order (Ama*on) page and there’s a comment lifted directly off the band’s website… “Motörhead have no control over what’s done with these early songs, and don’t want fans to think that the band is involved in putting out such a costly box set.”

    Which rather begs the question… why on earth would any label release a set such as this *without* the input / guidance / involvement of the band?

    Handy hint #1 to those within major labels: show a bit of respect to the artists’ whose music you now control and work with them; they’d prefer it + it’ll endear you to the fans and collectors… the very people you’re aiming a set such as this at. And #2, if it is a *limited edition* at least have the decency to state what quantity it’s limited to!

    i’ve been a follower AND a collector of his musical career.
    i bought the vinyl, then the CD’s, then the remasters.
    believe you me, i will NOT be purchasing this release with it’s offensive and pathetic oversight and lack of bonus material!
