Brett Anderson‘s last two (to date) solo albums are issued on clear vinyl. The Suede frontman’s solo work got better and better and 2011’s Black Rainbows is particularly good.

This vinyl reissue of Siouxsie & The Banshees‘ 1987 cover album has been remastered from the original quarter-inch tapes and cut at half speed at Abbey Road, with artwork and audio “personally overseen” by Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin. 1979’s Join Hands gets the same treatment.

Cyndi Lauper / A Night To Remember

Apparently out-of-print in the U.S., Cyndi Lauper‘s third album A Night To Remember is reissued on CD by Music On CD. No bonus tracks and no mention of a remaster make this of limited appeal.

Bob Dylan vinyl LP

Not exactly sure why, as I wouldn’t have thought this was out of print, but Sony are reissuing Bob Dylan‘s 1962 debut album on black vinyl. This features ‘Talkin’ New York’ and ‘Song to Woody’.

  1. bill says:

Also out this week the new album from gabrielle & a new 1000 only pink/black pressing of fairground attraction’s – first of a million kisses.

  2. Steve Pritchard says:

Vinyl, vinyl, vinyl… crackle, pop, crackle, pop, bass distortion…. YAWN.

  3. Michael Khalsa says:

A Night To Forget was the way Cyndi Lauper described this record in her autobiography. She wanted to call it Kindred Soul but the record company said no. I Drove All Night is great. Unconditional Love. I Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend. And Hole In My Heart which was on the Japanese version still sounds great.

  4. CJ says:

It’s a shame more didn’t go into the reissue of A Night To Remember. There was a good Japan remaster with bonus tracks (“Hole in my Heart” and live version from a different era of “I Drive All Night”) just a few years ago. Still missing plenty of potential material, but even a straight release of that version would have approximated a boon for the US, where I don’t think we’ve ever had an official release of “Hole in my Heart” on CD domestically.

  5. WILLIAM ENGLAND says:

I have a feeling that the Bob Dylan album slipped out of copyright for Sony as I count 14 different vinyl releases on non-Sony affiliated labels – so perhaps going for the “official” black vinyl lp…

  6. Steve says:

I purchased the original Cyndi Lauper cd second hand in mint condition via amazon for £1.29 including p&p last year. There really is no point to this reissue

  7. Dunc says:

The Banshees’ “Tinderbox” and ‘”Juju” are released at the same time (HMV are doing a bundle deal on all 4) – I’ve only heard Juju so far, and the sound is immense (I caved in and bought a gold vinyl one off Discogs!) Especially looking forward to Tinderbox; an often underrated classic with great production to begin with.

    • Yani P says:

£17.50 each so a much better proce

    • Dunc says:

Email from HMV this morning kindly letting me know that Tinderbox is on its way. No mention of the other three… I hope this isn’t “The Curse of the Banshees” again. It’ll be that bloody square hole they keep insisting on. F**ks things up every time.

  8. xymox970 says:

Gonna ask once more, if anyone knows……

Whatever happened to those Scritti Politti re-issues ?
They were apparently scheduled for june, but no word as yet……

  9. Bogdan says:

Paul, any idea if the recent Bob Dylan 2CD live compilation sourced from the copyright collection (1962-1966) will also be issued on vinyl? It’s an outstanding compilation, in my opinion. It’s so good, in fact, I feel it deserves a more lavish package (box set, essay, more photos, etc.).

    • Paul Sinclair says:

      Don’t know… they might do, I guess.

    • John Mason says:

Dylan anthology apparently slightly more extensive in Japanese issue (2 booklets and a poster), but the (same) producers of The Bootleg Series probably don’t want to compete with themselves too extensively!?!?

  10. Isaías says:

    Wow!
Vinyl reissue overseen by Siouxsie and Steven themselves! What a great news. Let’s pray for something more in the pipeline in CD of course. Not necessarily re-release the remaster albums but put out what was left behind. Promo videos, live stuffs, out-takes, alternate version, remixes, turning it into a really woth box set. If they scrape their tapes at Universal vaults I’m sure there will be many hidden things. There’s still time to give die hard fans a christmas gift !!!

    • Caroline says:

Severin was working on a complete singles set, complete with DVD and even a pledge to include tracks like “Song From The Edge Of The World” but the trail went cold. I hope these LPs are a prelude to something a bit more juicy as well.

  11. Phil G. says:

Ordered the Bitches Brew SACD only last Thursday from Amazon Japan and it’s just arrived via DHL.

If the sound quality is as good as the packaging and booklet, this should be one terrific set.

  12. Neil says:

Another poor week for releases at least it’s saving me money i suppose.

  13. Dan says:

Tinderbox and JuJu are also released on vinyl this Friday.

  14. Ralf says:

Also out will be 2 Status Quo live 2lps.
