  1. Chris Squires says:

Rather annoyingly amazon told me on Friday that my coloured vinyl copy of Belinda Carlisle would be delayed until today (Monday) and this morning I got an email saying delivery is delayed until the 1st March. I am beginning to worry that they are kicking my can down the road and I am not going to get a copy. For whatever reason I feel that the delivery will keep getting pushed back until I get the dreaded “hey you aren’t going to get this but (big whoop) we haven’t charged you”. I can’t see any reason for a delay *other* than they don’t have it. No one is going to return one, even a slightly damaged one. Aaaaargh so miffed!!!

  2. Carl Myerscough says:

Both of the ‘Extend The 80s’ compilation CDs are available on the ‘2 for £9’ rack in Asda.

  3. David Simon says:

Once the price dropped to £5 each, I succumbed to the Extend The 80s compilations. However, it’s really bizarre that they share 6 identical tracks – A Flock Of Seagulls – I Ran (extended version) , Nena – 99 Red Balloons (club mix), Frankie Goes To Hollywood – Relax (New York mix), Japan – Quiet Life (12” mix), Howard Jones – New Song (New version) and Coldcut feat. Lisa Stansfield – People Hold On (Full Length Disco mix).
    You can’t complain for a fiver, but…

  4. Piotr says:

Do any Australian fans want my copy of the Belinda Carlisle box set on colour vinyl? I’d be happy to sell it on at cost plus shipping within Australia. Obviously after it arrives from Amazon.

  5. Richard K says:

Colour version of Magnolia soundtrack still available here:
    https://mondotees.com/products/magnolia-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-3xlp?variant=639876464654

Just cost me 45 quid including delivery to Japan.

    • Vandal76 says:

Highly advise you to keep away from this release. Just received my replacement copy, and it sounds worse than the first one that Mondo sent me.
Loads of surface noise on all records, louder than the music, which makes for a very unpleasant listening experience.
This was on the black vinyl, not sure on the coloured one.

  6. Geert De Wilde says:

Looks like the Ultra deluxe box of the Concert For George Box is being held back until early April?

  7. Philip Birtwistle says:

Wish all the other Todd Rundgren / Utopia releases were still in print……

  8. O(+> Peter B says:

I saw that Culture Club concert on TV recently. George is sounding more like Tom Jones these days.

    • CJ says:

I don’t understand what happens with his voice. He’ll have years when he sounds almost as good as Culture Club in their prime, and then he has years when he sounds like he’s still smoking heroin along with six packs a day of cigs.

  9. auteur55 says:

I’m buying the Felt reissues because they are one of my favorite bands and I guess the collectible, fan ephemera in the reissues is a gorgeous. I’d rather just have all the rare/hard to find tracks on a re-release over these expensive reissues but still happy to have something.

Don’t like when artist’s mess with their works for reissues but after hearing the interview with Lawrence he wanted to release a version of Ignite the Seven Canons that was his own mix. So I’m simply going to keep the Guthrie version and enjoy hearing it new as Lawrence intended. It’s a win, win and after hearing one of the remixed tracks I think it’s going to sound great.

    • EW99 says:

Felt’s ten albums/ten singles history (OK, excluding Index) does make me wish they’d packaged a single as originally released with each of these albums rather than just a 2 tracker. It would be nice to have a reissue campaign that plugged more of those gaps.

And Lawrence’s obsession with having an even number of tracks on the albums still means that we’ve lost one of the original album tracks, but a different one this time. I guess that’s why we love him so.

PS – Don’t forget the new Go-Kart Mozart album is out this week too!

  10. Stevie B says:

Also out on Friday are deluxe editions of metal band Kreator’s Coma of Souls, Renewal and Outcast. Not to my personal taste, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway.

Meanwhile, Amazon UK have had some copies of the very hard to find Beatles Christmas Fan Club vinyl box sets (new, from third party sellers) going for around £70 these last few days, which is only a fiver or so above the ‘official’ price. This might (or might not) be the best price these will be available for, and they were going for considerably more a month or two ago.

  11. Auntie Sabrina says:

There are also ‘Groove’ and ‘Hits’ 3 CD version out too, the prices yet to match the 2 other sets yet…

  12. elliott buckingham says:

iv ordered the 12″ albums just for the tracks I aint got because at a fiver its cheaper than sourcing the original 12″ vinyl mixes but I do agree over the 4 titles that are being released bmg seem to be repeating a lot of the same tracks over these releases.

  13. unique says:

they have the electro classic “Michael Caine” by Madness. perfect for any breakdancing party

for a £5 they aren’t a bad deal really for 2 full discs of 12″s

  14. Heraldo says:

Also out on Friday is a 3LP reissue of the Magnolia soundtrack which includes both the Jon Brion score and the Aimee Mann songs as well which were released separately on CD and are both magnificent in there own right.

    • CJ Feeney says:

Thanks for the heads up. It’s a bit pricey at just under £50, but that is a seriously weird choice of cover. I must keep an eye out for a better price.

      • Heraldo says:

It’s basically an American import and until yesterday it was £68! The current Amazon price is the cheapest I’ve found anywhere. In fact I cancelled the order I’d placed via the previous cheapest option when Amazon reduced theirs.
The cover follows the label’s in-house style (and it’s relevant to the film of course if you can make that out from the thumbnail on Amazon). I actually like it I must admit.
        :)

  15. Neil says:

Those 80s extended compilations are getting very tedious with the same mixes repeated endlessly in fact Relax (12″ New York Mix) appears on both of these compilations sloppy or what.

    • Jan Hansen says:

There are actually two more compilations on their way. There are a few tracks which are featured on more than one of them. I guess they don’t think, anyone actually will buy all of them.
