  1. Simon says:

Looks excellent. Probably won’t remortgage to buy it though.

Incidentally, there are some interesting track times on the DVD. Is Hate & War 1 minute 94 seconds or 2.34? ;-)

  2. JDM2020 says:

I’ll probably buy the regular album box set just to hear the remastered versions of the albums. Its a shame they couldn’t have compiled an expanded version of Black Market Clash which features the non-album A’s and B’s but I guess they have to hold something back to make you shell out the £100 for.

  3. Gary says:

The Clash, still rewriting their history by ignoring Cut the Crap. Tut tut.

  4. Michel says:

Best box set of the year…ordered!!!

  5. Joao Costa says:

Cut the Crap is Joe Strummer and His Musicians, not Clash. Awful disc.

  6. Gary says:

@Joao Costa I agree it is awful, but This is England is a great track. Plus it’s not just Joe, Paul Simonon is on there too. I think it’s terrible when bands decide to airbrush their past. The Beatles are doing it by not releasing the film of Let It Be, the awful last Velvet Underground album Squeeze is all but forgotton. It’s not a good thing.

    • pascal says:

I agree with Gary. Cut the Crap is a Clash Album (without Mick and Topper) . Just like Let it bleed is a Stone album (without Brian)
Good (or Bad) news: Squeeze (VU without Lou, John, Sterling and Moe !!!) is available on CD for the first time on Kismet Records .
Sound System Box Set is not what I expected. 250 $ for 15 unreleased tracks on CD and 4 on the DVD is not a good deal.
I prefer waiting for a Combat Rock Deluxe edition with the Mick Jones mixes .
      SANDINISTA

      • Gary says:

I agree a decent audio version of Combat Rock would be far better than another Clash Box (even if this does look pretty cool). I have a bootleg of the Mick Jones version of Combat Rock, but it’s bootleg quality. SO it would be great to hear that mixed and finished up by Mick.

  7. Paul English says:

Mick Jones and his arrogant airbrushing / re-writing of history is getting tiresome at this stage. I’ll be boycotting this one on the basis that it’s not the full story.

  8. John says:

There are far better reasons to boycott this box. Turning London Calling into a 2 CD set and Sandinista! into 3 just seems like filler. And the price is laughable.

  9. GB says:

Agree with many of the comments above- could have been better (Rat Patrol from Fort Bragg 2 CD anyone?). But, if you pre-order from the official Clash website (www.theclash.com), if I’ve read it correctly, you do get a couple of bonuses, the main (and perhaps most exclusive; the ‘screensavers’ are actually just three .jpegs) is a screenprint signed by Mick, Topper and Paul. From the site:

    EXCLUSIVE TO CLASH.COM PRE-ORDERS!
o 3 Exclusive Screen Savers for immediate digital download.
o Exclusive Canvas Patch: Re-creation of an early Clash SEW ON CANVAS SCREENPRINT approx 18cm x 12 cm – 7 x 5 inches. Printed with Joe’s signature. Paul, Mick and Topper will autograph each piece of canvas. (CLSBN001)
