Cheap Trick / Epic Albums box set

Cheap Trick / The Complete Epic Albums Collection

Last month saw the release of Cheap Trick‘s The Complete Epic Albums Collection, from Sony Legacy.

The 14-disc set includes the complete Budokan concert, all the band’s studio albums from 1977 to 1990 (many expanded, or newly remastered) along with the Found All The Parts E.P.

The 32-page booklet is pretty good, although contains no essays – just track listings, credits and photos. The reproduction on the vinyl replica sleeves is much better than expected, and amongst the selection are a few gatefolds (Budokan, In Color and Dream Police).

Currently available for around the £40 mark, which is little more than £3 per album.

Great value this set but it’s reminded me how awful their mid 80s albums are. Luckily Lap of Luxury saves the day for me and it’s nice to have it with a little bass on it. More superb work from Vic Anesini.

I met Robin Zander at a small club show he did in Fort Myers, Florida recently. What a jerk. He signed maybe 5 autographs, then took off in his Hummer. I already owned “At Budokan,” but I stopped at Best Buy on my way out to the show, and bought a second copy to get signed for my brother. No chance of that! Anyway, “At Budokan” is only $5.00 at Best Buy these days, so I wasn’t all that annoyed about the wasted money; there was a guy standing next to me with an original copy of “Dream Police” he was hoping to get signed. They guy is standing there with a piece of your work that he bought in 1979. The LEAST you could do is sign the f’n thing for him.
