Did Johnny Allen Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix have a premonition when he wrote the above lyric? We’ll never know.
But what we do know is that we can ‘see’ or rather hear Jimi again in this world from around the productive period when he made his other-worldly remarks, even one of these two early posthumous Hendrix albums did take 43 years to make it to officially on to CD (Rainbow Bridge) with the other (The Cry Of Love) being long unavailable. It may even be worth the wait, sound wise, seeing as they are newly remastered from the original two track basic stereo master tapes from Electric Ladyland Studios – but more on that later.

Elvis Presley / Young Man with the Big Beat (5CD bookset)
This excellent repackage of the 2011 Elvis box dispenses with the gimmicks (ticket stubs, facsimile memorabilia) but maintains the five discs of audio. The 88-page book here produces all the text and photos albeit at a reduced size.
Jimi Hendrix / Cry of Love
Bernie Grundman has gone back to the original analogue masters for this first CD reissue in over 20 years of the posthumous fourth Jimi Hendrix studio album.

Fleetwood Mac/ 1969 – 1972 Vinyl Box Set
Fleetwood Mac‘s first four albums for Warner Bros. are collected in this rather fine vinyl box set. Then Play On, Kiln House, Future Games and Bare Trees all benefit from decent replica packaging, with heavy card sleeves and a couple of reproduced gatefolds. Also comes with a bonus seven-inch replica of 1969 single Oh Well – Pt. 1.

The first album for almost five years for Travis, Where You Stand is available as this CD+DVD deluxe edition with two bonus audio tracks, videos and a making of documentary.

A UK reissue of the Jimi Hendrix Experience four-CD box originally issued in 2000. Features alternate recordings, live performances and rarities.
Elvis Costello / Brutal Youth (2xLP reissue)
Never before issued on vinyl, Elvis Costello‘s Brutal Youth – his best album of the 1990s by some margin – gets a 2xLP reissue from Music On Vinyl. It comes packaged in a gatefold sleeve.
Fleetwood Mac / Then Play On Expanded CD
If you don’t fancy the vinyl box set, also issued today on CD is an expanded version of Fleetwood Mac‘s 1969 album Then Play On. This remastered edition features the original UK track listing on CD, with both parts of Oh Well, The Green Manalishi, and World In Harmony as bonus tracks.

Jimi Hendrix / Are You Experienced 200gsm audiophile mono vinyl
The US edition of The Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s debut album, released in August 1967, was very different from the UK release. Most obviously the cover was completely changed to the now familiar psychedelic ‘fisheye’ design and tracks were removed to make way for the singles that were not included in the original UK issue. Those singles were Purple Haze, Hey Joe and Foxy Lady.

This US version was available in mono for a short time, but the UK release has never been issued in mono in the US – until now.
On 5 March 2013, Sony are issuing a very heavyweight, 200g vinyl pressing of the album, mastered from the original mono master tapes by renowned engineer Bernie Grundman. The UK running order is present and correct, as is the original UK artwork.

Sony will release a restored and newly expanded edition of Jimi Plays Berkeley, on Blu-ray and DVD, on Monday 9 July 2012.
Jimi Plays Berkeley is a documentary film chronicling the two concerts Jimi Hendrix performed at the Berkeley Community Theatre on Saturday, 30 May 1970.
