Great song and kudos to GM for selecting it. The simple arrangement is nice too, but the vocal is marred buy the unnecessary use of pitch correction. George Michael is a good singer; he doesn’t need it and it makes the performance sound artificial and soulless.

I agree, great song and nice arrangement. Always thought it was a vastly under rated Terence Trent D’arby number and that he seemed to disappear before he/we realised his potential. There’s a Deluxe Edition which (like Hothouse Flowers) hasn’t yet been forthcoming but is richly deserved!

George’s voice is still very good after all these years. Sorry to be ignorant but what is pitch correction? I always thought that Terence t Darby kind of sabotaged his own career. Great song. Hopehe gets a heap of money now.

  4. Boaz Halachmi says:

I’m not allowed to watch the video because where I live, but I’m allowed to pay for a copy of the CD. Cool!

  5. Mike says:

Great song, good version, gratuitous tit shot!

Studio trickery – electronic manipulation of (usually) the voice either post recording or in real-time. It can be done by computer software or dedicated hardware devices. Also known as auto-tune. As use by 90% of todays X-Factor style teen artists.

I’m not allowed to watch the video either – but good news: there are thousands of others to choose from! Obviously any other clip will satisfy my need to hear the new George Michael track – what was I thinking! Gotta love you for caring, Virgin EMI.
