  1. Dean Taylor says:

Agree with Steve, the white inner sleeves are a nice touch , just a shame there not black as par the original vinyl release. Love my set.. fantastic remaster.
If anyone knows were to buy those paper mini lp inner sleeves I would love to know..

  2. Steve says:

Thank you, Paul for another excellent SDE unboxing video. Led Zeppelin have finally gotten the CD’s packaging right for this super deluxe box set with their use on plastic inner sleeves to protect each CD and the added paper sleeve to go in the cardboard sleeves is a nice touch. If record labels and/or bands insist on this type of packaging then this is the way to go to protect the CD’s from scratching & scuffing from the manufacturer to you.

  3. Iain Carmichael says:

    Australia amazon $160. Approx £88.

    • Musicmacca says:

      Be careful
Amazon au haven’t got a clue. The picture shows the super deluxe but the price and narrative suggest it’s just the 4 lp vinyl version. I was tempted but can’t be bothered having to return it when the inevitable happens

      • Roel Glas says:

@ Musicmacca. Not sure where you were looking but the picture shows the super deluxe and the details say 9 discs. This has been $160 since release date, dropped to $149 for a day or 2 before release, was even $128 last week (for 1 day) but now back up to $160. I pulled the trigger @ $149 in Sept and it’s the full monty. Just to check, I went into “my orders” and it states ” you purchased this item on…….”
This is virtually half the price compared to anywhere else in the world. For once us Aussies have something cheaper!!!
Jump on whilst you can. What have you got to lose, if it’s the wrong one, send it back (but it’s not)

        • Scott says:

Hi Roel, you 100% sure i’ll get the one with the cd’s? i have put off getting it cause i thought i would just get the vinyl box.

  4. AlexKx says:

BUT as usual (usually, eh) the Blu-ray audio does not have the bonus audio content, right?

    • Friso says:

It does, in the sense that it has the added tracks from the expanded 2007 release, which were not on the original release. But alas, no unreleased outtakes or mixes, like the boxsets of the studio albums.

  5. Gisabun says:

    @Gareth Taylor:
I have the BR and I think it is the same for the DVD – just music. None of that other stuff.
I was hoping that when the movie version was released the last time there was an option to jump over that stuff.

  6. Kauwgompie says:

Everytime I see a Led Zeppelin album I think of Soft Cell’s lyrics of “It’s A Mug’s Game”. Probably because I’m not really into Led Zeppelin (but all the power to those who are!). Just a little humor on a rainy Tuesday morning.

“And play your records so loud
All the ones that he especially hates
Deep Purple in Rock, Led Zeppelin II
    Well even you hate those”

  7. Mike says:

I love the Led Zeppelin Super Deluxe boxes, but $200 for a recording of a concert is ridiculous

    • Arcfontis says:

Yea, I have all LZ super deluxe boxsets.., except TSRTS one…priced a but TOO high, plus getting the LZ by LZ book .. so something had to wait till next year.. and this is it.

  8. Ray Lucas says:

Is the 2018 DVD edition of The Song Remains The Same merely a reissue of the 2007 reissue, or is the 2018 edition somehow different? Also, does the 2018 CD edition of The Song Remains The Same contain Eddie Kramer’s original 1976 LP mix, or does it contain the 2007 remix remastered by John Davis? thanks…

    • Friso says:

Somewhat different. Remastering of the 2007 remix, slightly better dynamics and (again) slightly different editing of some of the songs. The bluray audio, seperately available, has a 5.1 surround mix in 24bit hires along the stereo remix in hires. No original mix included in any of the reissues.

  9. Uncle Meat says:

So far the Led Zeppelin anniversary campaign has been a disaster.

    • Mad Earwig says:

      You wont please everyone.

I loved the reissued series of albums over the last few years with their better packaging and companion discs even though I have bought these albums many times before.

I have lots (and lots) of Zeppelin boots and many are better concerts than ‘Song Remains The Same’ but the new double CD is excellent… production is warmer than on original CD release and quality of packaging is very good compared with the old jewel case/insert of old.

I hope they start releasing different live albums from 1973, 1975 and even 1980 with photos from the era. (Earls Court 1975 please)

I dont think its a disaster- keeping the band alive after all this time gets my vote!

  10. andrew R says:

Paul i must have bought this many times , but your most informative unboxing points
out things like texture finishes and box obi that other reviewers have omitted.
Whether it’s worth the money ?(when you consider what imagine sd is going for) You held it, would you pay current prices …or hold out?
    Cheers Anyway

    • Chris Squires says:

That’s why I’ve given up on the Classic Pop magazine. It, and most other reviewers don’t tell you anything you need to know. If I am thinking of buying a box set of say something by Heaven 17 then I probably don’t need to know that a couple of the members came out of the Human League and I certainly don’t need to know the history of the Police if I want a review of the new 6LP Box set….
SDE, pretty much does what most people seem to want it to do. It’s sad as I would like to support the physical printed word but what can you do….. I didn’t win the EuroMillions…

    • Paul Sinclair says:

Thanks! The super deluxe is very expensive… more than I said in the video, actually, at around £180 in the UK. Not totally sure it’s worth that much, but waiting for a deal might not work either since the Led Zeppelin boxes don’t really drop in price much. Ultimately will come down to how much of a fan you are and if you have all the other boxes, then *not* getting this would be a bit silly… :)

      • andrew R says:

Aah the “not” getting it conundrum. How many times
Have I sworn I will only buy the killer stuff in a reissue campaign then crumbled.
This deserves its own thread . I’ll start “in through the outdoor “ don’t need a super deluxe the 2cd has all the music was the poorest lap zeppelin made . 3months later
Kerching !! Guess what amazon man fetches . Guilty

      • GARETH TAYLOR says:

        Hi Paul
Is the new DVD edition the complete concert without the sequences taking place during the performance….
Would be worth buying it if this was the case

        Thanks
