  1. Dean T says:

Still loving my set ..played and watched a fare chunk of it last weekend.
Beginning to forget about the cost and just enjoying it for what it is ..worts and all..

  2. Gavin says:

Due to enforced back issues I’ve just worked my way through every audio disc over 2 days and this set is bloody awesome. The live stuff is great , and seriously worked with my pain killers

  3. Mike says:

Paul, thanks for that. A couple of things.

Obfuscation: Could you please compare the printing on the actual CDs of “Obscured by Clouds” & “Live at Pompeii” please, are they the same in the individual release as they are in the mega-box, also has the booklet been updated to reflect the additional content?

Regarding Cambridge Station, CD 2 / Track 4, you should find the individual release CD has been re-done to correct an error whereby the track had a false/repeated start – the “wrong” version is 11 minutes 56 seconds in length.

  4. Alexandre says:

Is the hidden 5.1 Meddle in the separate boxset too?

    • Stickman says:

No, the Meddle 5.1 (hidden) mix is not on the separate box.

      • Mike the Fish says:

Does Alan’s [can’t spell] Breakfast quad mix end prematurely in the box? It does on the individual set BD and DVD. It just cuts off before the sink draining has finished.

    • Paul Soper says:

No, the hidden Meddle 5.1 is only in the boxset volume; not the separate volume.

  5. Dr Nick says:

Rip Chris Cornell. Such a big deal made about Bowie and no word thus far.

  6. Electric Sydney says:

Thanks for making the video Paul, very informative. Plus I realized I’ve been opening it upside down! Now I can see the logic of it better.

  7. RJS says:

Interesting video. I know this is a site for “collectors and fans who love holding the music in their hands” but after amassing in excess of 2,500 CD albums including many box sets, I’m actually quite relieved that I made the decision to subscribe to Spotify recently. All of these PF compilations are on there and I can listen to them minus paying a king’s ransom and the hassle of storing such a big box. Obviously there are no DVDs or Blu-Rays available via Spotify but I can easily live without them.

    • Gavin says:

Spotify sucks – curse of channel flicking – watch this space – people come over and just decide they have to flick thru 10 seconds of each song to find that one song they can’t remember what it’s called – does my head in

      • RJS says:

Bizarre comment! Why does it do your “head in”? Are you being forced to listen to people “channel flicking” on Spotify?

        • Gavin says:

Yes – you put something on and then guests go – you must listen to xyz but can’t remember so plonk about changing tracks every 10 secs – and no one listens to albums – just the hits imo

Vans back in stock on the v and a website

    • Simon C says:

Thank you for the heads up, they are going to be very sort after and thought i had missed them, already going for silly price on Ebay! Beware of the one from Italy, not sure if that one is 100% genuine!?

  9. Pete Muscutt says:

Interesting video Paul, I always thought the little hole in the foam insert on the large box set was for a replica of the black Bedford van the design of the boxset was based on! Wishful thinking?? A wee collectible toy van wouldn’t have been asking too much for £300 + would it?

  10. Paul Trotman says:

Do the movies on the extra disks on the boxed set have subtitles – I heard soeone somewhere complaining that they didn’t.

  11. Simon C says:

Great video and very informative info! Thanks Paul.

  12. Miguel Rocha says:

Sadly, I can confirm the movies More and The Valley don’t have subtitles. Both movies are mostly English but would have been lovely to have subtitle options, especially at this price!!! And Pete, I completely agree it would have been awesome to have a Matchbox replica of the van! I love my set but that would have been beautiful (and filled in that empty space somewhat).

  13. Dean T says:

Ok..does anyone out there have one of the v&a vans? Does it fit the box ? How limited is it?
Worth picking up?..would like one but £40…mighty tempted to order one with the hard back book (which I plan to get).
If you have one I hope you like it…

    • Gavin says:

MY vans on order – will update when turns up – got the book – its ace – £36 on Amazon with the lenticular cover and they were doing the Bowie Is book from the v & a for £2oish in hardback as well

    • colm47 says:

      Hello Dean.

I got one for free when I purchased the box set in Tower Records, Dublin on release day,
as I was one of the first customers that morning. Also got a keyring and a tote bag!

The van came in a a solid clear plastic type presentation case.
It says Oxford Diecast vintage model on base of box.
The van is attached to the box on a plinth so I haven’t taken it for a drive!!

    • Gavin says:

Van arrived – its on a plinth but can be unscrewed from underneath – but – it looks great in its case on top of the box set so that’s where mines staying rather than being hidden away – the v & a book is also well worth getting – type THANKS in the promo code and you get £5 off all orders over £25 – free postage also over a certain amount

  14. Dean T says:

Ok guys ..if you want a van be quick only 5 left in stock at the moment..no idea if they will restock or if that’s it…it your move…maybe they will restock every now and then as a new batch is sent out….or these are quite limited…. hard choices.

  15. spaceboy says:

If there’s ever a SUPER deal on this I might bite but I just ordered that Steve Hillage box so hope it isn’t too soon…

  16. Miguel Rocha says:

Not paying £40! I’ve already paid over £300!!!

  17. WKRP says:

    Thank you.

  18. Miguel Rocha says:

Rather than pay £40 plus shipping for the van, and because, now that I’m aware the van exists (which kinda pisses me off that it wasn’t included and is being sold separately) and I’ve obsessed about something filling that space inside my Early Years box, I’ve found, in my daughter’s Schleich collection, a cow with an amazing resemblance to Lullubelle from the Atom Heart Mother cover. My daughter’s proudly given me permission and the Schleich cow is now grazing peacefully in the space inside the box. “Problem” solved. Take that, record company.

  19. Gavin says:

    Nice one Miguel
