2013 Skydog collection issued as limited 14LP vinyl box
The acclaimed Duane Allman Skydog retrospective was issued across seven CDs back in 2013 and chronicled the guitarist’s career from early garage bands and R&B sessions to The Allman Brothers Band and Derek & The Dominoes. Now a lavish vinyl box set is on the way…
The 14LP collection will include all of the music from the CD editions – 129 tracks in total – and has been produced by Duane’s daughter Galadrielle Allman and renowned reissue producer Bill Levenson and new to this edition are several previously unpublished photos of Duane, which will be featured on each LP sleeve. As before the content ranges from his early recordings (with Gregg) in bands such as The Escorts, The Allman Joys, and Hour Glass; to his studio work with Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Boz Scaggs, Delaney & Bonnie, and many others; to a live jam session with the Grateful Dead.
Only 1000 of these sets are being produced and they come with a 56-page booklet, with rare photos and essays by Scott Schinder and Galadrielle Allman.
These are primarily aimed at the North American market, although there is some availability in Europe, notable JPC in Germany. The Amazon UK link doesn’t look correct and should probably not be relied on at the minute.
The Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective 14LP box will be issued on 28 October 2016.

Hi,
I just wanted to pass this on.
https://shop.realgonemusic.com/products/duane-allman-skydog-lp. $199.99 for 14 slabs of vinyl. I don’t know if they ship outside U.S.A. As of 6 Feb 2019
For perspective, with only 1,000 boxes and just 50 ‘Super Deluxe’ at $700 that’s a tiny 5%.
So fine if the 12 buyers to date are very strongly passionate and luckily have the funds.
It’s a unique package so who is to deny them. Fortunately, one US site discounts vinyl 20%
plus ships free so the ‘Regular’ box can be had for $400. Phew! Maybe… :-)
Glad I have no interest in vinyl
The CD box is great & 1/5 the price of this crazy vinyl box
Sounds like a coffee table book to me. There is little of everything on it, but not that much the average fanatic collector hasn’t yet shelfed. Simular concept like the C, S, and N-4CD-Boxes, I bought when near 20 Euros. 400 Euros for a couple of reare songs is ridiculous.
Paul
You have only scratched the surface with this one. Orders are being run through Pledge Music. For a mere $700 you get the box set plus:
The Super Deluxe Bundle includes:
Order guarantees an LP edition numbered 50 or lower
Custom printed Skydog shipping carton
Please Be With Me: A Song For My Father, Duane Allman signed and individually numbered by Galadrielle Allman. Number in book will correspond with number on vinylbox.
Leather slipmat, embossed with Skydog title treatment
Lithograph Poster (18”x24”)
Eight panel accordion postcard set
8”x10” b/w photo
If your disposable income knows no bounds than this is the set for you!!! There are 50 of these for sale & 11 have been sold as of today. This is meant for the hard core collectors & not a casual fan of ABB. The idea is to create “collectors items” out of thin air
I am a huge fan of the Duane & ABB but I already what is here & a whole lot more so I will pass

I snagged one of the first run of the CD boxed sets on Amazon for $110.00. It’s easily one of the best boxed sets I’ve ever owned!
Today’s hedge-fund manager special? That’s £37 per LP from Amazon UK. As Paul writes, the price should not be trusted as the Amazon US price is about half that.
If I were an Allman Bros and vinyl fan I might be tearing myself up inside about this; but, as I am neither, it’s not an issue. However, I dread the day when one of my favourite artists get this sort of treatment with vinyl-exclusive material I feel essential to own. Maybe I’ll figure it it not essential to own. Such prices are what might spark a new wave of bootlegging vinyl onto CDR or DVD-R or Blu-Ray-R.
The pricing of all these new vinyl releases is a piss-take. It’s mostly digital anyhow and a pain in the arse. Pity the poor sods who buy into it.
Anybody wanting to justify the pricing will have a hard job.
Ridiculous prizes….. Yes I know, i won’t have to buy them and i won’t either..
I wanted the cd version of this box but was very expensive and hard to get hold. Now the prices for this and limited availability is way out of my league. A reissue of the cd box but would be very nice but would also upset everyone who paid out for the initial limited release. A shame it is/was so limited.
I’m pretty sure the did a second production run of the CD box to fulfill the demand…
Never heard of Skydog or Duane Allman and I don’t like vinyl.
Not for me!!
THE GREATEST Guitarist in rock n roll history…
£520 Duane Allman + £375 for Pink Floyd + £250 for Ian Hunter…enough already!
I will go for the Jethro Tull Stand Up boxset for £25 thank you very much
There was a marketing term used a few years a go for FOPP called £50 quid bloke. This was the guy that walked into FOPP without really wanting anything but would nearly always spend about £50. I was (still am) that guy. However, I cannot justify any of the these latest prices for box sets.
