Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett return as Gorillaz next month, with a new album Humanz.
The 20-track release is available across a number of formats including a two-CD deluxe edition (which adds six bonus tracks) and a 2LP deluxe vinyl set which is pressed on double heavyweight black vinyl housed in a cloth-bound foil-blocked 54-page hardcover book of Gorillaz art by Jamie Hewlett (it comes with a download card).
If £50 on the vinyl deluxe isn’t enough of an investment, then there’s a 14LP super deluxe edition vinyl box. Each record is a different colour vinyl and comes in individually art-worked sleeves. Each 12-inch vinyl features an album track on one side and an “exclusive alternate version” on the B-side. You get what sounds like the same book as in the deluxe vinyl set but the contents reside in a 12-inch bespoke vinyl case. This box won’t ship until late summer and is “super limited” (no actual numbers given!). It probably doesn’t matter because you have to spend £275 to buy one.
Humanz is their first album since The Fall, which was released physically in early 2011. Gorillaz are playing a secret show in London tonight and play Dreamland in Margate in June as part of their Demon Dayz festival.
The album is released on 28 April 2017 (except for the super deluxe, as noted above).

the 2lp with the art book now available at amazon.ca
Hi.
We receive today this message from URP (USA) about Gorillaz – Humanz [2LP]: “please note, as of last night, the label canceled the “Deluxe” versions for retail, so there is only the standard LP as the only vinyl version for retailers”
ONE HELL of a typo! PleadgeMusic is offering the 1CD for….yes… £1,325!!!!
At least it includes shipping :-)

That’s what I call a rare collectors item.
In other news, the 1CD and 2CD formats will be available in 4 different covers, each one with a different character. Orders will be supplied randomly, so be alert you may get a cover you don;t like.
The new Massive Attack… now that’s exciting! Bring on the deluxe formats!
Compare to the most recent New Order vinyl SDE (alternate versions of all songs, lots of different color vinyl), which was $99. Even though it’s arranged on 14 records instead of 8, and includes a book, there is ZERO justification for a $350 price tag. I like Gorilla a lot, but that is insane.
2CD for me, thanks.
This spring will be expensive. Ordered the Deluxe vinyl and Deluxe CD. Now i’m waiting for the Massive Attack album, which hopefully will be released this spring.
The superdeluxe ones that are back in stock aren’t signed by Jamie Hewlett, those one’s were snapped up in the first batch which was believed to be around 200-300 copies.
From what has been previewed so far, this is an absolutely awful album, so no wonder the inevitable ‘deluxe’ editions are being wheeled out to try and flog a few copies. I was a huge fan of Gorillaz up until ‘Plastic Beach’ but they’ve severely lost their way since then and was devastated at how bad these tracks sounded. While I get Gorillaz is a sort of collective and known for collaborations, but this just seems to be a bit ‘rent-a-vocalist’ with no cohesion whatsoever. Disappointed and won’t be tempted by the supermegadeluxehardbackbook edition I’m afraid.
Jean Michel Jarre on a couple of tracks as wel
I wasn’t all that excited about the prospect of this album, until I saw Grace Jones and Mavis Staples on the track list. Now I’m in for sure.
there were rumours way back that Bowie would be on the new album. Fake News. :(
SuperDeluxe back in stock now on the US and UK Gorillaz stores
Thanks. Didn’t think they would have sold out that quickly…
Not impressed with the four tracks released yesterday. They sound like the type of processed beats dim school kids play too loudly on their phones at the back of the bus when you’re coming home from work.
@Tim-meh (is that a South Park name/thing?) You must be commuting with the cool kids if they’re listening to Gorillaz. I’m amped about this and really enjoy the band’s output – bring on the 2 CD Deluxe!
The No. 73 to Stokie via Kenny’s house.
LOL, kinda spot on!
Releasing super deluxeditions of lps which are not even out yet , let alone had the chance to create some sort of legacy, is an empty exercise in greed and hubris. The taster track I heard was terrible.
I won’t be buying it but I do prefer all the options being layed out now rather than buying a normal version only for the super deluxe version arriving 6 months later. Know what you’re saying about greed though….
And how long before those alternate versions crop up on CD or download a la New Order…
Well, they better should! Otherwise only the wealthy will get their hands on them!
A few intriguing collaborations particularly Grace Jones and Carly Simon.
Ive just preordered at Amazon.uk for £19.22 for the standard 2xLP
What a pleasant surprise. Love the Gorillaz, especially Demon Days. What a gem that is.
Hallelujah Money…not for Damon Albarn
You may wish to sample some songs prior to dishing out the money for the deluxe (or standard) editions.
When I looked last night the SDE was signed by Jamie Hewlett but then when I looked this morning all reference to that seems to have gone. Maybe scrapped the idea?
Pricing for everything but the CD is just too much in my opinion – Even the vinyl seems OTT.
The Super Deluxe £275 set sold out within a couple of hours of going on sale yesterday evening.
Not so sure… the deluxe vinyl is supposedly out of stock too, and that’s not really limited.
When 2LP including book deluxe edition was back in stock for a while, the price was already 33 % higher, 66 pounds sterling!
Not the norm, that just restocking raises pricing.
It’s £48 on Amazon, so a fair bit cheaper.
It came back in stock earlier today, I managed to snag one.
