Yes indeed – another vote for North of a Miracle. It’s an album I listen to often and enjoy every time. Excellent songwriting amd musicianship combined with superb production by the late Geoff Emerick. As mentioned elsewhere definitely Nick’s Masterpiece.

There as a great 2CD reissue a while back (from Cherry Pop possibly) that included a lot of the contemporary material – the b-sides from his singles around this time were also fantastic.

North of a miracle now that was a classic had it on vinyl gatefold sleeve, went in bin about ten years ago along with the Mike mcgeear album and a bunch of other stuff was splitting from my wife and as you do when you move out sharply and emotions are high you bin stuff, miss the album cant say I miss the wife

Great! Now how about a vinyl/ cd/ hi-res de-luxe edition of the criminally under-rated North of A Miracle?! For me, this is Nick Heyward’s masterpiece and deserves a place in the pantheon. Geoff Emerick’s production is a thing of rare beauty, fully merited by the songs and performances.

  4. Marc says:

Lovely album. Nick Heyward is still putting out some great music.

This looks like a vinyl repop of the old (1992!) BMG CD, with the “bonus” trax as the 2nd LP. Hopefully without the one-channel audio dropout at the very beginning. Probably for collectors only, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Hey, wonder if Blank&Jones would be inclined to do a really thorough and good-sounding job with H100? Just another daydream…

  6. Alan R says:

Ordered from SDE soon as I saw the post, nice one Paul, look forward to getting this.

Looks like Music On Vinyl have hit upon the idea of offering expanded albums based on previous CD reissues (the case for the prosecution – this album, plus the two recent Big Country re-releases).

My guess is we’ll before too long we’ll be getting 2LP releases of Lexicon of Love, Too-Rye-Ay, The Hurting…..

They’ve also done this with their reissues of a couple of Tindersticks albums – ‘“Curtains”’ and ‘Simple Pleasure’.

Not too big a deal in the case of the latter as the original was a single LP and all the bonus stuff on the reissue is on a second record. The reissue of ‘“Curtains”’ was a bit awkwardly done – the original was 2x45rpm 12”, while the reissue is 2x33rpm with a lot more music crammed on, meaning the album finishes somewhere on side three and is immediately followed by bonus tracks. It sounds fine but can’t help but feel it would have been better to just recreate the original release.

  8. Tom from FIN says:

This is a must have reissue. Extraordinarily there are real bonuses here, LOL Fantastic album from start to finish, almost a forgotten classic.

  9. Matthew Holbrook says:

I’m not sure if I’ll be around when this gets released but I’ll order anyway (2109)

  10. Tony O says:

Ordered, can i get number 0001 please?

  11. Trash says:

    Hi Paul –

Tried to purchase using a credit card but there seems to be a problem. Is this likely to be fixed anytime soon please?

    Many thanks

P.s. Please keep one aside for me :-)

    • Paul Sinclair says:

I can confirm there are no issues, so perhaps some momentary glitch… did you try again?

      • Trash says:

        Hi –
Tried a few times over the course of about 10 minutes, each time it said Credit cards are not being accepted at the moment, refresh the page to try another payment method.

Waited 30 minutes and then tried again and it worked fine. As you say must have been a temporary glitch.

Anyway – even though I have this album about four times now (original Vinyl, original CD, Deluxe CD and Japanese vinyl) have to have this if only so that I can play the 12″ singles without the hassle of having to change the speed on my turntable (Rega Planar 3 – anyone that owns one will know what I mean).

        Thanks Paul.

All the missed opportunities: October is Orange vinyl, orange, yellow, brown “autumn leaves” splatter vinyl. Black vinyl with “white pelican splatter” vinyl or simply include Love Plus One (12″ mix), or the Flexipop! Version of Nobody’s Fool. The mind boggles

    • DonnieBiscuits says:

I do see the point of yellow, at the time it was the band colour, Nick used to go on about it in interviews and usually a member of the band be wearing yellow. I totally agree on the tracks, lost of missed opportunities. Would love to see some of the pre and post Pelican West demos.

will this be minus the errors that are present on the cherry pop reissue or have these have better masters to work with

  14. Jan says:

Any card or booklet like the original?

  15. Francois says:

2109.. That is a long wait indeed..
This said 1000 copies worlwide is really a shame. This deserves a wider availability or a CD counterpart for those who can not secure a copy.

  16. DW says:

Digital dub from the “Plus” CD?
