No-Man / Love You To Bits

no-man is the duo of Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson and 11 years on from their last release, the pair return with a new album Love You To Bits.

The album comprises two connected five-part pieces, which lyrically chronicle the aftermath of a relationship from different perspectives. Listeners are promised “shimmering pop and pulsating electronica elements in fresh and surprising ways” and  “big beats and breathtaking solos that collide with ethereal textures and bold experiments to create the most dynamic and diverse no-man release to date.”

In addition to Tim and Steven, Love You To Bits features guest appearances by the following musicians: Adam Holzman, David Kollar, Ash Soan, Pete Morgan and the Dave Desmond Brass Quintet and was mixed by Bruno Ellingham and mastered by Matt Colton.

The album is available on CD and black vinyl, but fans may want to head to Burning Shed which offer an exclusive blue vinyl edition which comes with an art card signed by Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson. This is limited to 1000 units. The CD version is a digi-pack with an eight-page booklet.

Love You To Bits will be released on 22 November 2019.

Single out today. Only digitally unfortunately, unless you get the cassette tape version.

Burning shed are offering a limited edition cassette version of the album with some bonus tracks exclusive to that release, it’s only £7.99

I posted that last night, too, but you must’ve got there first. :-)

I’ve bought a copy, but suspect that the B-side will get a digital release at some point. Will have to go up in the loft and drag out one of the cassette decks that are up there somewhere!

Wow, just as i finished ordering the blue vinyl it went out of stock! So glad i got lucky because it will sell at ridiculously high prices very soon….

Sounds very “new romantic.” I like it! The disco beat really hooks you in.

I listened to the montage first and was thinking ‘this all sounds like the same song’ and then clocked the tracklisting and realised why that was! Can definitely pick out Kollar and Holzman from the video from other SW work.

One of my favourite K-Scope artists, Bruce Soord, has an album out soon, too. Available in a 3 disc SDE.

Sounds great! Preordered the limited version. no-man seem to like to reinvent their sound a little with each album, this one is a significant departure at first listen.
Tim’s last album follows a nice string of some great solo albums. Steve was involved with that project. This sampling of tracks seems to follow that release better then the last no-man project.

Wilson once stated the best work he does is as a member of No-Man. They certainly set the bar high with the last two No-Man albums although this sounds nearer to the early stuff. Still sounds promising. I await in anticipation.

Too bad there is no BR-Audio and/or a bit longer. 36 minutes is their shortest album ever [excluding EPs.].

  9. GARBAGE says:

Maybe you should do a best/worst album cover of the year (for both new releases and reissues) along with your 2019 Summary and your 2020 forecast, Paul. I know what I’d vote the above into…

  10. Vince says:

So looking forward to this, no-man deserves a much larger audience. It is hard to fathom considering Steven Wilson’s continuously rising profile, that many (if not most) are unaware of this wonderful and long-running art/pop outfit.

Is it really 11 years??? Wow that is scary!!, still live in hope for a deluxe reissue of loveblows and lovecries (and lovesighs) the song ‘Swirl’ alone deserves a wider audience

  12. Tcf says:

Maybe / Hopefully the release of the year….
