Rhino are to release a 4CD edition of Fleetwood Mac‘s Rumours in what they are describing as a ‘great value package’.
The four CDs are taken from the 2013 super deluxe edition. They are as follows
- CD 1 – Remastered album, plus B-side Silver Springs
- CD 2 – Live 1977 Rumours World Tour (12 tracks)
- CD 3 – ‘More From The Recording Sessions’ which is 16 outtakes/alternates
- CD 4 – Recording Sessions Roughs and Outtakes, which is 18 tracks that were originally included on the 2004 two-CD deluxe.
The DVD of the Rosebud film and the vinyl are the missing elements, from the super deluxe. The new packaging is unconfirmed for now, although it’s fairly likely to be a “10-panel softpack” because the same label is reissuing the a-ha Hunting High and Low super deluxe like that.
This will be released on 25 October 2019.

Ordered my copies as soon as Paul sent out the information, but I am still waiting. Contacted Rhino Records and they told me they are awaiting stock….should have been released 29th November and yet other websites seem to have copies available. I am hanging on as I want the albums in their slipcase – and Rhino are still taking orders. Hope I get mine soon, very frustrating.
4 discs and they didn’t include the original single mixes of “Say You Love Me”, “Rhiannon”, and “Over My Head”? Those demos & session parts are all over YouTube, and generally worthy of one listen. Glad I bought the reissue I have when it came out.
All three were from the 1975 Fleetwood Mac album, not Rumours. So that might explain it.
This arrived yesterday – the packaging is pretty basic to say the least, just a fold out card wallet with a booklet. Like one of those “100 Best Disco Songs Ever” comps you can get for a fiver in supermarkets. I’m delighted to get it for the price (thanks Paul) but I’d feel a bit cheated if I paid over £20 for it.
I would really love it if they would stop repackaging the Buckingham/Nicks and Peter Green eras and come out with at least some decent remasters of the Bob Welch years. Criminally neglected and my favorite period of the Mac (I know I’m not in the majority on that one), and it deserves at least good remasters. I’d love to see everything from Kiln House (pre-Welch) through Heroes done up in deluxe packages, but would settle for a good solid remaster of each. Not the overpriced and shoddy remasters that came out a few years back either.
Well, it has now reappeared on amazon.uk but at a pre-sale price of £21.99.
I see Amazon have bumped it up an extra tenner i assume somebody made a cock up with pricing. What is even more bizarre is their pricing for that new 2CD OMD singles collection which they are selling for £18.95 when everywhere else is selling it for a tenner or less.
Missed it, grrr. This is what happens when I don’t look in on this webpage for a couple of days!
We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock. I can never get my head around that statement considering they never had it in stock in the first place. I wish the a-ha one was this price.
They would have had an allocation which has clearly been used up. Better this than continuing to take orders and then cancelling them at a later date.
Thanks Paul. Just picked this up for £13 including shipping to NYC before the price disappeared from Amazon UK. I have the SDE but can’t get myself to open it so I’ll use this for in the car. I have been listening to the SACD in 5.1 from Japan at home.
Not sure what’s going on but I clicked on the link that Paul provided and now this title shows as “Currently Unavailable” on Amazon UK .
I’m waiting for a “Say You Will” SDE. An underrated album.
How about a 50th Anniversary edition of Then Play On? One of the best albums the band ever made, severely under-appreciated (no thanks to the fact that the US didn’t see the correct version until 2013, and reviews still insist on using the butchered US and pre-2013 CD versions), and desperately in need of a re-visit to the mix. With all of the outtakes and related studio recordings, it’s easily a 3-disc set. 4 or 5 with live recordings.
Not a fan, but as my daughter would say, this is “DIRTY CHEAP”
In hindsight, I am happy that I own all of the previous deluxe sets with the vinyl, but for those who wait, sometimes stuff like this is just right. EMI could have done cheaper Pink Floyd sets, but now I would imagine Sony won’t rule out hauling those Immersion sets in budget packages. They have done nicely on the lower-priced Miles Davis sets, as well as Screamadelica (the rest of the Primals in budget boxes, please?).
I would have preferred smaller Beatles sets, as well. And why not offer lower-priced boxes minus some of the demo content and make those download options instead?
Record companies, are you listening?
This is indeed ‘just right’. Like many I have a copy of Rumours and though not a ‘fan’, Fleetwood Mac are alright! Consequently, a four cd set of this quality at less than £12 is a bit of a steal. Disregarding wether or not it’s limited, in a nice box etc, the curiosity value of additional demos, live tracks etc is what draws many of us music lovers to the SDE side of the tracks so to speak. At this level of pricing this set will be absorbed I suspect, by many like myself, who would of otherwise disregarded it in favour of managing a personal budget!
Thanks Paul …After recent efforts Bat For Lashes kind of fell off my radar but following your newsletter “I’ve been listening to” selections; gave “Lost Girls” a spin today & absolutely love it !
The comments at it’s re-release again make me smile. Of course, Fleetwood Mac are just trying to bolster the meagre 40 million + it’s already sold…..
I love this site.
Nice price – Here’s wishing for a similar Tusk release
Would be great to see these type of options up front but good to see nonetheless.
I spent my whole life trying to avoid buying this album, I guess for £12 I’ll pick it up (sigh).
There’s a reason lots of people own it. It’s a great album :)
I’d go so far as to say it’s a perfect album. Whenever i listen to it I’m grateful for being alive and being able to hear and appreciate music. There are some stunning songs on this album and they constantly amaze me at how some people in life can get together and create such things.
What! Greatest album with great story about making it. Never tire of this album
I have two copies on vinyl, one to play when drunk and the Steve Hoffman half speed remaster. However on cd I’ve only got a charity shop greatest hits which is a bit shit. This’ll be nice to have in the car and it’s a good price. Plus the wife can play it at home as she doesn’t play my records. She is allowed ;)
my mother told me to never listen to rumours…as you can imagine, my tusk album is worn out !
For anyone interested, I bought all the Fleetwood Mac reissues super deluxe versions for the CD’s only. I have all the 180 gram remastered vinyl never been played including all the booklets and packaging Minus the CD’s and CD sleeves. Debut 1977, Rumors, Tusk, mirage and Tango in the Night. Email me if you are interested, let’s make a deal. I agree with most I did buy the Rumors Deluxe in in 2003 CD and the Super Deluxe again so I have 4 bonus discs, live album, and 2 copies of the same Rumors Remastered. Just release everything the first time. We not ATM’s as labels think we are. And where are the Doobie Brothers Super Deluxe Editions of all there Albums come on WB/Rhino. Hope to hear from someone about the vinyl Editions at mikesippie@yahoo.com. Thanks, Mike
Not until I see the dynamic range meter results. Been burned on this album too many times in the past with egregious clipping…
Er, given that it’s the 2004 remaster which every reissue since then has used, it’s not going to be any different from those.
Unfortunately, this is the only FM super deluxe release I bought before deciding I didn’t want the vinyl (and the prices never went down too much for the rest of the albums). Anyway, great price and I’ll wait for the next albums to be issued like this. Thank you.
Thanks Paul for the info..ordered. Now if only the ‘Tango In The Night’ boxset gets reduced. I really want the 12 inch versions cd .
This is a *good* repackaging (for a change) as a slimmed-down version of the multi-format box. However, I believe this was the only of such Mac sets that had a THREE disc configuration at the time, excluding only the additional demos. Guess I’ll have to decide just how critical those are.
Yes, I have that. Picked that up for under GBP10 at my local Warehouse!
Although some if not all of those demos came out prior to that in 2004 (as Philip mentioned); hard to keep track.
Tusk also got a 3-disc non-SDE reissue in the last decade.
Wowee! Thanks, Paul!
Too late. If they had released the super deluxe this way in the first place, I would have bought it. I already have the pared down 2 CD version. I’m done buying this album.
So is this a new trend – building up to a super deluxe edition, only to then crop bits off and flog it for the umpteenth time? Personally, I’m in favour, as it would still give me the feel of owning something special, when the extra bits like vinyl would have been severely underused.
Plus, of course, the concept has a built-in name. The super redux edition.
Super Redux Edition, haha!
I put my vote in for:
Mike Oldfield “Tubular Bells”
Mike Oldfield “Crises” (just a repress of the old box, which sold out 2 times)
The Alan Parsons Project “Tales of Mystery and Imagination” & “Eye in the Sky” (but with a new, better, remaster of the main LPs, and the 5.1 blu-ray included – I only want the vinyl gone!)
Supertramp “Breakfast in America” (ditto here – better remaster, no vinyl)
I know they’ve all been on Universal, so small chance, but still…
This is a great idea. I trust all the contributors who talk about “rip off Britain” whenever the UK price is more than elsewhere note that the UK price is around half the price of anywhere else on this one ! Bargain Britain !
Stick that in your 12 track only coloured vinyl re-issue pipe & smoke it. I pay £12 for all those tracks & you suckers pay about £25 for the same old 12 tracks hehehehe. CD wins hands down again.
This isn’t a good ‘look’
They should have released it like this to start with. I hope they do the same for Tango.
Second that.I bought the 3 disc Rumours and Tusk but not the Tango reissue.I would be on a version of that without the vinyl in a heartbeat.
Price to assuage the stoopid colour vinyl editions, hmmm???
Bought! Thanks Paul
The pre-order price when you actually click on it for Canada is now currently at $47.00, and not the $28.00 listed in the article.
28 pounds = $47 Cdn
That’s £28 not CA $. You need to switch currency.
I have the 2011 Japan 5.1 SACD edition (Bob Ludwig master) which sounds fantastic. Shame they couldn’t put it on this upcoming re-release. Perhaps it’s on the upcoming Japan edition? For £57.81 I would expect so!!
This is great news, now if only Rhino could blow their own trumpet and repackage some of their own stuff like Wild Man Fischer and The Temple City Kazoo Orchestra!
Once upon a time Rhino was a quirky little label that put out novelty tunes, local SoCal groups and carefully chosen oldies reissues, and did an exemplary job. All that ended in the mid 90s when Rhino was acquired by multinational behemoth Warner to serve as its catalog department. All that remains at this point is the trademark.
Fantastic Price.
Not sure what I paid for the SDE but I believe I picked it up on a deal alert so I’m good.
I agree that it would be great to see these products released and priced for the Common People.
Common people.
Hahahahahahaha
What is the Rosebud film?
Rich weaver, the Rosebud film is a documentary with interviews and live/ rehearsal footage from 2977.
WOW! Still touring in 2977! Holograms I assume (except for Stevie) and a terminator type visit with the live footage from the future :-)
I picked up the super deluxe box for about £27 on Amazon a month ago – they must have been getting rid of stock for this reissue.
There was a DVD Audio disc of this album some time previously with greatly enhanced audio and a great 5-1 mix. It was ridiculous this wasn’t included as it is quite hard to find now.
And there was a Japanese 5.1 SACD as well.
I have bought this album so many times over the years (vinyl, cassette, CD, DVD-A, 2CD, 3CD, SACD, and SDE. I think I am done.
That 4CD / vinyl / DVD super deluxe box set actually dropped to £18 at one point! With that in mind, I didn’t jump in and buy the ‘Tusk’ box straight away — and I missed it.
Thanks Paul… ordered, though mainly to replace my 2 CD version which has Silver Springs in the wrong place. Finally it’s at the back of the disc
Good to see a plug for this, I was wondering why neither of my comments about it from last week (in the other Fleetwood Mac thread) had been published.
Wow. £11.89! Ordered. Thank you Paul. This has all the bits I wanted and none of the bits I didn’t want.
Will the other super deluxes get this “streamlined” repackage treatment?
The a-ha one has. Hopefully others on the way…
The Faces’ Four Guys 4 disc set would be great in this format, just to get it back in print for a good price!
rehashing the same stuff over and over again
ad nauseam
I’ll pass
Lots of people complained at the time that you had to buy the vinyl to get all 4 CDs. Now you don’t, and it’s dirt cheap, and people still complain…
Well the weather’s been nice Paul so what do you expect ;)
I love it. It’s a great idea, and I’m excited about what else may be on the pipeline. Frustrating perhaps for those who paid full whack for things that they didn’t want that have been trimmed off though.
Roll on Tusk. They only super deluxe edition I missed out on some how
As pointed out, this is not required if you have the 2&3CD versions. What I would be interested in is a new version of Tusk compiled from the super-deluxe and previous two disk versions but without the vinyl. That could go up to 7 or 8 discs if they kept the DVD 5.1 in so I would expect it to be £25 to £35 on this pricing which I would bung straight into my preorder basket even though I also have the 2&3 CD versions of that.
The record companies need to get on with these reissues as the people who actually want them are dying out!
Might have been more impressed if it was a newly remastered set rather than the old 2004 one, i. e. I’ll pass.
Only one disc is 2004
Wasn’t there a 5.1 mix included in the box?
Nope.
Maybe when this album celebrates it’s 50th anniversary !
From memory 2 or 3 of the Fleetwood Mac SDEs had a 5.1 mix included, but unfortunately not this one.
I hope this is starting a trend of box sets in smaller packages, only so much space in a flat, can’t say at this price
Will they do the super deluxe version of Tusk like this too, that’s v hard to get hold of!
I guess that will happen at some point.
A good price, but how many times can they repackage this?
4 times
Wow, ordered without hesitation, thanks for the heads up Paul
Bargain! Ordered cheers Paul !
So if you have the double and triple CDs from recent times, you have all this then. Great price if you don’t mind!!!
