British Heavy Metal group Saxon will see four classic live recordings pressed on vinyl in The Vinyl Hoard, an indulgent, but collectible 8LP vinyl box.
This box celebrates four Saxon tours/performances: The Dogs of War Tour from ’95, The Lionheart Tour of 2004, the Night Out With The Boys tour of 2005 and finally The Rock Sound Festival of 2006. Each of these come as a double LP sets on 180 gram gold vinyl, each in a specially designed gatefold sleeve presented in a slipcase box showcasing a beautiful brand new cover painting by Saxon artist-in- residence, Paul Gregory. This marks the first time these live recordings have been issued on vinyl.
An Amazon exclusive version (limited to 500 copies) comes with an art print of the cover painting signed by frontman Biff Byford. There is no premium for this at the moment, so get in quick if you’re interested!
The Vinyl Hoard will be released on 28 October 2016.

RikTheHib: How did you get it that “cheap”?
Well I for one have this on order. A great set at a pretty good price. Hardly bottom of the barrel!
They would not be releasing this if there was not some sort of demand for it. By the way wither side B of the Lionheart Tour?
Are we at the bottom of the barrel yet? If not, we must be getting near it.
One man’s scraped barrel is another’s cup that has runneth over.
CharlesK, you are completely correct. I regret the cynical comment now.
ive heard a few official live saxon albums and never rated the sound quality
Indulgent, sure. But don’t knock it. This box looks gorgeous and 500 die-hard Saxon fans (I assume there are that many) will lap it up, grand total of 47 thousand quid and, let’s hope, a profit for the lads. This isn’t the death of western civilization, it’s giving faithful fans what they deserve — good on you, Saxon.
Pre-ordered!!
Came down to £82.74 with shipping.
I am one of the 500! (cheeky!!)
Mine came down a further ten quid before the release date :-)
This is the sort of bandwagon jumping that gets vinyl box sets a bad name. I’d probably part with my readies for a decent box set of the early Saxon vinyl – perhaps up to and including Crusader, but a bunch of live sets from over a decade ago? Think I’ll pass on this one.
