Sixties English rock band The Creation‘s slightly chaotic career is celebrated in Creation Theory, a new five-disc deluxe set coming in April.
Creation Theory is a chronological history of the influential band that pulls together early singles (when they still performed under the moniker ‘The Mark Four’), the legendary recordings for Shel Talmy (in both mono and brand new stereo mixes), the 1987 ‘reunion’ album/sessions (released belatedly as Psychedelic Rose in 2004) and finally Power Surge, the album the original line-up recorded for Alan McGee’s Creation Records (named after the band) in 1996.
In addition to the four discs of audio, a DVD features a lengthy new interview with guitarist Eddie Phillips and various live performances, including appearances on the legendary German 60s TV show Beat Beat Beat.
A limited edition (500 only) Amazon exclusive version of Creation Theory (no price premium at present!) comes with a numbered signed certificate of authenticity by legendary guitarist Eddie Phillips. Update: Exclusive now sold out.
Creation Theory will be released on 28 April 2017

Straight in. One of my favourites and an underrated but very influential band. Would probably have missed it if it wasn’t for you, Paul!
Trying to decide if I want this one or the Numero one. Not seeing much difference other then the Power Surge inclusion which I’m assuming isn’t great.
Numero one is only sixties material (so no 1987 album) and lacks the DVD which has 185 minutes worth of material.
A must have set and signed ltd to 500 get in quick before they all disappear.
Ordered. This may well have passed me bye if not for your wonderful site Paul. Cheers.
Bit puzzled about the “certificate of authenticity”. What does it authenticate?
The autograph, presumably.
A vey nice set, I’ll be getting this. Given the wide time frame they might have also added other odds and sods such as the excellent UK demo only 45 by Kenny Picket – ‘Got A Gun’ from 1980 on F-Stop.
Also, for anyone who might only want the 1960s recordings (in stereo as they are here), Numero in the USA are releasing a 2 X cd set in a CD sized hardback cover and book format called ‘Action Painting’ on 17th March.

Strangely there’s also the “Action Painting” 2CD + Book Set on the excellent US label Numero Group out on 17 March. Think they are completely separate projects with different mastering on each set: Alec Paolo takes charge on “Action Painting” and Shel Talmy on the more comprehensive ^Creation Theory”. Think I’ll probably get both versions, I love the beautuful sets produced by Numero Group, but I also want the complete recordings set.

Pre-orders for “Action Painting” are live on Amazon Germany & US, but not UK.

I was just about to post about the same thing. I prefer vinyl, but I use digital as well, and all the extra material and mono versions on this one are tempting. Decisions decisions.
Yes!!!!!
Fantastic! One of my favorites!
Just pre-ordered!
Any words about remastering?
