Yes, a nice unboxing video here and I’m looking forward to delivery of this box set in the near future.

  2. Mick says:

Thanks for the informative unboxing, Paul. Even though I already own the CD set, the overall quality displayed here makes the vinyl set a major upgrade for fans who enjoy both formats.

  3. Alan B says:

Paul can you please confirm where the disc is stored on the live album. Are there 2 discs stored in one of the gatefold slots with the third on its own in the other slot, or is it stored inside the centre piece of the trip-fold?

  4. David says:

    Quad mix in Stereo.
Fair enough on the LP set, but why they couldn’t have added a DVD with the quad mix on in the CD set just beggers.
    What a lost opportunity.

    • Titch says:

Indeed. There is a significant customer base out there for DVD-A, blu-ray audio and SACD with quad mixes. Sony Japan’s Santana Quad mixes are currently being released on SACD – they are selling. I purchased last year’s Gene Clark No Other box, just for the SACD quad mix.

    • Phil Cohen says:

I should explain. The mix (created during the sessions for “Sabotage” by engineer Spock Wall) was commissioned by Warner Bros.(The group’s U.S.A. label) and they posess the only tape. When Sanctuary Music offered the quad mix on DVD as part of an earlier Deluxe Edition, Sanctuary dubbed it from vinyl, and this effort was inferior to online bootlegs. Some fans have later suggested that there was a U.S.A. Reel to Reel tape release, so there may have been an alternative to dubbing from vinyl.
As for why Warner Music (in territories where they have the rights) won’t offer the Quad mix, who knows?

Thanks for your Black Sabbath Paranoid vinyl box set review, it really looks a solid high quality set and the 5 x 180 gram vinyl along with the book, poster and tour program is good value overall especially amazon France price.
