  2. Christophe says:

Hi Paul i got mine yesterday from my indépendant record store in Nice France Hit Import. Due to the lock down season 2 records_stores are open with click and collect process. I paid it 199.99 euros . The price to make indépendants survive ? Whatever the box is a dream and should be the average level of material (number of cds brays memorabilia and book) for every fan. I m desperatly waiting for Joe Jackson (i m a huge fan) to look after his back catalogue in a similar way.

  3. madman says:

Great video Paul! KC really pack their sets full of material and make them a great deal. I only wish I had the money to pick this one up *sigh*

  4. Mike Meddemmen says:

I enjoyed the video unboxing and decided to come down off the fence and buy it now rather than later. Of course……. it’s already sold out. Any chance of more stock coming through, Paul?

  5. Jarmo Keranen says:

To listen all this stuff it probably took 1969 days. 2009 version with 5 cd’s and DVD is enough for me!

  6. Mark says:

Nice box cover. After this and the forthcoming Tom Jones sleeve, it’s a relief to learn that there are still some graphic designers left in the music industry.

  7. Jacob says:

Does this new box set include everything from the previous 2009 box set of this album?

  8. Paul Wren says:

Nice video – thanks. Another great box set for KC fans. What a quality box set bonanza we’re enjoying at present: Tom Petty, Black Sabbath and Motorhead to name but three. I need to build more shelving!

  9. Richard says:

I’m holding out for a box set of all the box sets and I’m starting to save for the inevitable retail price at circa £2000…….not…..!

  10. Burt says:

Paul, are you going to do an unboxing of the U2 “ATYCLB” SDE?

  11. Straker says:

“The 69 doesn’t work in the wrong position”.

I think we can all agree on that….!

  12. Simonf says:

My brother received his from Amazon yesterday afternoon. That should keep him quiet for a while! He also has the original Crimson King box set which now worth a fortune so one very happy bunny!

  13. DaveySussex says:

I got mine yesterday. KC set the benchmark for these types of boxsets both in terms of the amount of material and the presentation. They also keep them at a reasonable price. Looking forward to one of Fripp’s solo work next.

    • Stuart Ansell says:

Yep, so begins the long wait for the next set… At least we have something to listen to in the meantime! Happy listening sir.

  14. Phil Cohen says:

King Crimson’s U.S.A. mail order company sent out an e-mail today (Nov.7th) claiming that they now have received the sets. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks, it will arrive here

  15. Larry Davis says:

Well I must say this set is really well packaged!! It’s somehow both excessively complete (down to the last detail) & simultaneously minimal & compact & digestible…multiple triple disc wallets…I’m actually kinda impressed…plus a guide to all the sets that came prior, organized so you don’t get lost or overwhelmed…I am not familiar with the album…well I know OF it, had a vinyl with water damage I found in a junkbin, but never actually listened to it top to bottom…I might listen to it online with an open mind & if I dig it enough or intrigued enough, and this set comes up in a price drop, I’ll jump at it…that’s as much of a compliment I can give…

    • Francois says:

Unfortunately, except for the “Thrak” box which was available for a short time around 99€, these boxset do not drop in price. For some of them it is even quite the contrary.. This said they are not very expensive when you look at the ludicrous amount of content. I particularly recommend “The Road to Red” and Thrak. The audio content is top quality in these two boxes

      • Klaus says:

        @Francois:

I started collecting these boxes with buying three of them (Lark’s…, Thrak and On And Off… for the price of two at one of “Saturn”/Amazon.de’s 3-for-2 sales some years ago, found an offer on Amazon.it for The Road To Red for a bit more than 100 Euro, bought Starless and Heaven And Earth with 8% discount for being a subscriber to German “Rolling Stone”-magazine at jpc.de for a bit less than 150 Euro each and got Sailor’s Tales at an offer reducing the price to net-worth (thus practically leaving VAT off) for about 130 Euro.
So not paying full price for these is not easy and quite a challenge but it is possible.
Oh, and the only one i missed out so far being the ITCOTCK 40th anniversary set i’m now quite happy of not getting because this “1969”- box looks so much better value for money.

  16. Ben in Colorado says:

I have about four other boxes in this series. I lost interest when Adrian Belew joined the lineup.

I really do think they’re excellent value for money. I was on the fence about this one simply because it seem like there’s a limited amount of material, and there’s bound to be a lot of repetition. And other comments I had read had said that they were dubious about the quality of the live recordings, being that they came from bootlegs. But of course watching this unboxing I had to hit the order button. Maybe all these discs will be a good way to spend part of the winter.

  17. peter stevens says:

I’ve received it and its very nice but it could have been so much better by including the vinyl.Just a thought and a huge oportunity missed

    • Klaus says:

      @peter stevens:

Do you mean a vinyl edition of all material? I guess that would be so expensive that almost nobody would buy it.
Or do you mean a vinyl version of the 50th anniversary version? If so i’m sure that this will be released over a few months time and you can then put it next to this box in your storage space.

I’m happy that, consistent to all other KC-SDE-boxes so far there is no vinyl included as i’m not interested in it and don’t appreciate being forced into buying something that i don’t want.

    • Ian Ellis says:

I think there will be a lot of people who would have loved to have the vinyl included. It always gets positive feedback when that happens.

      not

  18. Francois says:

This is consistent with all the other boxsets, and I really like it. I just hope mine finally gets to my home one day…

    • Woodsey Niles says:

As of Nov 9 DGM still has my copy listed as “preordered” as it has been for months. Still no ship date or any other revised information offered on the DGM site. I have to wonder why DGM sub-distributors such as SDE can ship their orders out days or weeks before the source of the item can. Fortunately this is the last KC box that interests me. Disillusionment setting in.
