  1. Lemmy's left boot says:

Ace of Spades, remastered, in 5.1? Bit like oiling a rusty old lawn mower. It’ll still make a racket and make your lawn die.

  2. Keith Lambert says:

I have the 3 x LP set but I’ve been reading some negative reports about the sound. As such, it’s still sealed until I can make my mind up whether it’s a keeper or a return. I had high hopes, given that it’s a 1/2 speed master from the original tapes. Has anyone else heard the vinyl yet and if so, what’s the verdict? I’m referring to the original studio album btw and not the live material. Many thanks.

    • Helmut says:

Keith, I immediately felt on listening that of all things bass is missing. I did a quick comparison with the Sanctuary CD and the difference is absolutely noticeable. I haven’t gone further to analyse the differences in detail though.

  3. Carl Jacobs says:

    Hi all
Well mine arrived double boxed for security, thanks BSI merch.
I had forgotten about the extra 7” in facsimile Dutch pic sleeve from the time. AOS as we know with an instrumental version on B side.
The main course suitable boxed in a card shipping box with WarPig wrap hype sticker and barcode / cat no. hype sticker. Yes this has been retained.
Also in bundle was a black 40th ann. black Ace Of Spades XL t shirt sealed, never to be opened.
So seeing the unboxing from Paul along with the extras from preordering via the artist web store was for me excellent value at £160 plus £20 shipping.
Much better perhaps than the two recent Neil Young album sets on preorder from WB. Crucially better than Sabbath’s Paranoid extras in that the live shows are on separate albums; appreciate there may have been issues with blank sides on those but a better idea is separate for me.
7” will remain unplayed and stored in a white paper sleeve outside of the pic sleeve and with the box – again sealed for posterity and protected from shelf wear in a clear poly bag that my wife gets from her job, next to on shelving with the previous O.K / B box set from last year.
All my box sets are protected thus, whether opened or not.
Incidentally, has anyone noticed the glaring typo on the box hype sticker? Should read ……..”speaker smashing” but it actually reads “speaking smashing”; predictive text and a non detail person giving it a perfunctory check. Sack them! Or better still put them into the stocks with ear phones in, playing on repeat the blandest pop song as a suitable punishment!
    Stay safe all
See all you people in England on the other side of lockdown
    Carl

  4. Francois says:

After seeing this, I don’t find the box THAT expensive. Content is top notch and sound wise the few reviews I have seen are really good.
I had ordered the 2CD but this clearly made me change my mind.. And add a 115€ premium to ly original order.

  5. Paul Wren says:

Great video confirming how good this box set is – all box sets everywhere should be to this content and design standard. I’ve just placed an order for it on the strength of your video and my brain thanks you for it although my wife and wallet probably think rather differently.

  6. Glenn says:

    CD + DVD please.

  7. Carl Jacobs says:

    Well I disagree.
I have the Overkill / Bomber box set with the exclusive 7” though not the faux leather version sealed I also have the 3lp versions of the two albums again sealed. I have used the 2cd versions to play.
I have been notified that AOS box set is on its way and Badlands have the 3lp and 2cd versions waiting for me to collect post tier 3.
I have the 4 German Metal Hammer mags with 7” as well.

  8. Elizabeth Hirst says:

That looks amazing. Mine is on its way from Amazon.de as it was so much cheaper.

  9. Kevin says:

Great video! Loving the more frequent unboxing video’s.

I would have bought a CD version of this box set (and the previous ’79 box set) in a second, but alas no option to in this new vinyl world. The 2CD version – although very nice – is really only relevant for the live show, and given we have had 2CD deluxe versions previously of this album I will give it a miss.

    • Sailor1980 says:

I absolutely agree. No CD version? No sell.

    • Derek Langsford says:

Agreed – great video an a very nice set, though to bury a 5.1 mix on a DVD under 8 pieces of vinyl without a CD+DVD option is almost criminal. It’s almost as if they are trying to thumb their nose at the CD consumer. Glad I am not a fan so I don’t need to machinate about spending £115+ for a DVD. A 4 or 5 CD+DVD or Blu-ray set would have broadened its appeal.

      • Duane Bear says:

I’m scratching my head at that obvious blunder of leaving out a choice or either a stand alone DVD or Blu ray 5.1 mix ,and even the upgraded 4K version??? ,now that would have made me jump for this box set! ,but cause I already have most of this in one form or another, leads me to give this set a pass, now if(and that’s a big if!) they choose to reconfigure the set with the Blu ray/4K 5.1 mix I’m all in,until then? what I said!
